Commemorating Tiananmen Massacre Embracing Free China

(Jennifer’s note: This is a speech I made at the screening of “Free China: The Courage to Believe” at the National Chengchi University in Taiwan on the 31st Anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre. I am one of the two main characters of the “Free China” documentary. )

Thank you very much for coming to watch the “Free China” documentary on such an important day, the anniversary of the June 4th Massacre, and thank you also to the Falun Dafa Society of the National Chengchi University for organizing this screening.

It has been 8 years since the release of this film. In these 8 years, apart from the fact that the number of people who quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has increased from 70 million to 357 million, other situations have not improved much. Falun Gong practitioners in China have been suffering very brutal persecution, and the number of Falun Gong practitioners who have become victims of organ harvesting may already be as high as 2 million, a shocking figure.

In the meantime, the world has tolerated the CCP’s persecution of Falun  Gong. It has not only failed to stop the CCP from doing evil but has also continued to provide economic means to the CCP. As a result, the CCP was able to expand its persecution to Xinjiang and Hong Kong, as well as to expand its influence to Taiwan, Africa, Latin America, North America, and Europe. It seems that CCP is really on the way to dominating the world.

I believe we have all seen, through the COVID-19 pandemic, that if such an evil political party as the CCP, which by its very nature uses lies and violence to maintain power, is allowed to continue to do evil in the world, then the consequences that the whole world will face are unimaginable.

What happened recently in Hong Kong, that is, the CCP’s pushing forward the National Security Law, and letting the “one country, two systems” in Hong Kong virtually dead, should have made all the people in Taiwan see clearly that the CCP and the free world, the free people, and the free will, are like fire and water, which are absolutely incompatible. Therefore, if we want to defend our freedom, we must let the Chinese Communist Party disintegrate.

As a Chinese person from Mainland China who especially cherishes freedom, I also cherish Taiwan, the most precious beacon of democracy and freedom in Asia.  Through this fight against the pandemic, the world can see the contrast between the evil CCP and democratic Taiwan.

In my opinion, the worst thing about human beings is not the deterioration of themselves, but their willingness to lower their own moral standards. The Chinese Communist Party has taken advantage of this, using money and power to corrupt politicians and draw in the rich and powerful around the world in order to achieve its goal of world domination. Therefore, we must hold fast to our own standards.

Eight years have passed, and although today, a free China has yet to be realized, I believe that we are closer to it.

I also hope that together with the people of Taiwan and all the free people in the world, we can completely remove the CCP,  this cancer, this evil specter, from the civilized world, so that the people of mainland China can also enjoy freedom and happiness, so that China without the Communist Party can truly become a rule-abiding member of the civilized world, and can develop healthily together with the world.

Thank you all!

La historia de mi padre

Tiananmen of That Year 那一年的天安門

By Ariel Tian |

That summer, I came home from school and saw a lot of people on TV, tied up in white or red headscarves, saying they were on a hunger strike to protest.

I asked Dad what these people were doing, and Dad said it was the students in Beijing who were against corruption. I didn’t understand, why were they protesting? Why do you have to go on a hunger strike? Don’t we have a good life?

Then later, it was heard that these students started attacking the government, attacking the army, and killing the PLA who came to maintain order. I asked Dad again, why did these students kill? Dad said that maybe they were trying to do what was best for the country, but were being used by people with ulterior motives.

I thought it was horrible that these people with “ulterior motives” could take advantage of so many students who were fighting for the good of the country, and turn them into bad people. I told myself that when I grew up, I must not be taken advantage of by these people with “ulterior motives”.

But who are those people who have ulterior motives?

That year was 1989 and I was 9 years old.

After that, I gradually forgot about those students. Then someday, I don’t remember when, I was listening to some uncles, and they told me that university students in Beijing, especially students of Tsinghua University and Peking University, who graduated in 1989, were given very bad jobs that year. They also reminded me that I should never get involved in politics in the future, or it would be useless to go to Tsinghua or Peking University. I nodded and said I remembered.

At that time, I was practicing Falun Gong, which teaches truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, and I thought that it is absolutely impossible for someone with such a good heart to be used by someone with “ulterior motives.

Later, another summer, I was at home waiting for my high school exam results when suddenly all the TV was cut off and all the channels began to carry important announcements: the Falun Gong organization was banned and the founder of Falun Gong was wanted.

At that time, I had been practicing Falun Gong for three years, only from the time I was preparing for the college entrance exam, I had stopped practicing it full-heartedly. The teacher took all the students who had once practiced Falun Gong in the school to talk to them, saying that the organization was being used by people with “ulterior motives” and that it was “besieging” Zhongnanhai.

I felt that the world has been turned upside down because even Falun Gong has been used by people with “ulterior motives”. I was afraid of people with “ulterior motives”, even though I had never met them and didn’t know who they were or where they were.

How could those people with “ulterior motives” be so powerful?

With little inner struggle, I surrendered. I told the teacher, I would not practice Falun Gong anymore, we would all not practice anymore, will it not affect our college entrance exams?

Open Letter to Pompeo: Transferring Sovereignty Back to People of HK, Protecting Us So That We Can Have A Referendum On HK’s Future

Elmer Yuan, a businessman in Hong Kong, addresses a letter to US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo. As June 4th, the anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre arrives, Hong Kong braces for the looming passage of the Beijing’s recently announced National Security Laws. It is legislation that effectively erases the One Country, Two Systems agreement originally contracted in the Joint Sino-British Agreement in 1997.

Dear Secretary Pompeo,

On behalf of our FREEDOM loving people in HK, I thank you for STANDING WITH HONG KONG.

The coming June 4th is the 31st anniversary of the Tiananmen Massacre. A pivotal moment in China’s hope for democracy.

Your decision to stand with freedom in Hong Kong shows your true dedication to human rights in today’s watershed moment, with the heroes of Hong Kong.

The millions of everyday Hong Kongers marching for the future of their home.

The nameless lawyers, volunteers, medical staff, journalists, artists doing their part to keep our voices alive.

The youth of Hong Kong daring to stand up for what they know in their heart to be right.

But the fight for freedom has come at great cost.

These warriors are our children and everyday Hong Kong kids.

And in the last 12 months, Too many have been arrested, tortured, raped, murdered and many allegedly shipped across the border to secret concentration camps, never to be heard of again.

Giving up their lives for a chance at the preservation of their city.

8934 protestors aged between 11 and 84 years have been arrested since June 9th, 2019.

After them, who will be left to fight?

How many of our young will have to sacrifice their futures for basic rights?

They are erasing our language.

Our identity as Hong Kong people.

Our right to speak.

Our rule of law.

Our children.

We need the US to stand up to the CCP, NOW.

Waiting for the National Security Law to be passed in late June is waiting for another Holocaust to begin.

The world has allowed China to commit mass atrocities against human lives under the pretense that one day they will stop.

They will never stop until they control the world, including America.

If it doesn’t stop here now, it will be too late. We must learn from history that appeasement will never work.

The one country two systems promised Hong Kong in the joint Sino-British Declaration has been obliterated.

Now is the moment for our world leaders to not only stand up but to fight. If done, history will remember America as a nation that dared, truly, to be a voice for freedom.

Here is what I ask:

Since the PRC has reneged on all its obligations in the Joint Sino British Declaration, HK Sovereignty should revert back to the UK. Please convince your ally UK to do the right thing this time, by transferring the Sovereignty back to the people of HK, on the condition of a genuine referendum in 6 months, supervised by international and independent judges, to choose their own future.

Hong Kong belongs to HK people.

Before the referendum, we need your troops to keep HK safe as West Berlin, from the Communist’s never-ending interferences, infiltrations, cheating, and persecution of our youths. Your 85,000 US citizens in HK also need your protection.

Lastly, while you are working to make South China Sea safe again, please include us in your battle plan. We are also in the South China Sea.

Mr. Secretary, as an ally in the free world, please make HK safe again.

Thank you.

God Bless USA

God Save HK.

President Trump’s Full Speech on China

(Jennifer’s note: This speech at the White House Press Conference on May 29, 2020 is transcribed by me from the video below)

Thank you very much. Good afternoon.

I’m here today to talk about our relationship with China, and several new measures to protect American security and prosperity.

China’s pattern of misconduct is well known for decades. They’ve ripped off the United States like no one has ever done before. Hundreds of billions of dollars a year were lost dealing with China, especially over the years during the prior administration.

China raided our factors, offshored our jobs, got to our industries, stole our intellectual property, and violated their commitments under the World Trade Organization.

To make matters worse, they are considered a developing nation, getting all sorts of benefits that others including the United States are not entitled to.

But I have never solely blamed China for this. They were able to get away with theft, like no one was able to get away with before, because of past politicians and frankly past presidents.

But unlike those who came before, my administration negotiated and fought for what was right. It’s called fair and reciprocal treatment.

China has also unlawfully claimed territory in the Pacific Ocean, threatening freedom of navigation and international trade. And they broke their word to the world on ensuring the autonomy of Hong Kong.

The United States wants an open and constructive relationship with China, but achieving that relationship requires us to vigorously defend our national interests.

The Chinese government has continually violated its promises to us and so many other nations. These plain facts cannot be overlooked or swept aside. The world is now suffering as a result of the malfeasance of the Chinese government. China’s cover-up of the Wuhan virus allowed the disease to spread all over the world, instigating a global pandemic that has cost more than 100,000 American lives, and over a million lives worldwide.

Chinese officials ignored their reporting obligations to the World Health Organization and pressured the World Health Organization to mislead the world when the virus was first discovered by Chinese authorities.

Countless lives have been taken and profound economic hardship has been inflicted all around the globe.

They strongly recommended against me doing the early ban from China. But I did it anyway and it was proven to be 100% correct.

China has total control over the World Health Organization. Despite only paying $40 million per year, compared to what the United States has been paying, which is approximately $450 million dollars a year. We have detailed the reforms that it must make and engage with them directly, but they have refused to act.

Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization and redirecting those funds to other worldwide and deserving urgent global public health needs.

The world needs answers from China on the virus. We must have transparency. Why is it that China shut off infected people from Wuhan, to all other parts of China. It went nowhere else. It didn’t go to Beijing. It went nowhere else, but they allowed them to freely travel throughout the world including Europe and the United States.

The death and destruction caused by this is incalculable. We must have answers, not only for us but for the rest of the world.

This pandemic has underscored the crucial importance of building up America’s economic independence, reassuring our critical supply chains, and protecting American scientific and technological advances.

For years the government of China has conducted illicit espionage to steal our industrial secrets, of which there are many.

Today I will issue a proclamation to better secure our nation’s vital university research, and to suspend the entry of certain foreign nationals from China, who we have identified as potential security risks.

I have also taken action to protect the integrity of America’s financial system, by far the best in the world. I am instructing my Presidential Working Group on Financial Markets to study the different practices of Chinese companies listed on the US financial markets, with the goal of protecting American investors.

Investment firms should not be subjecting their clients to the hidden and undue risks associated with financing Chinese companies that do not play by the same rules. Americans are entitled to fairness and transparency.

Several of the most significant actions we are taking pertained to deeply troubling situations unfolding in Hong Kong. This week China unilaterally imposed control over Hong Kong’s security. This was a plain violation of Beijing’s treaty obligations, with the United Kingdom, in the declaration of 1984 and explicit provisions of Hong Kong’s Basic Law. It has 27 years to go.

The Chinese government’s move against Hong Kong is the latest in a series of measures that are diminishing the city’s long-standing and very proud status.

This is a tragedy for the people of Hong Kong, the people of China, and indeed the people of the world.

China claims it is protecting national security. But the truth is that Hong Kong was secure and prosperous as a free society.  Beijing’s decision reverses all of that. It extends the reach of China’s evasive state security apparatus into what was formerly a bastion of liberty.

China’s latest incursion, along with other recent developments that degraded the territory’s freedoms makes clear that Hong Kong is no longer sufficiently autonomous to warrant the special treatment that we have afforded the territory since the hand of it.

China has replaced its promise formula of “one country, two systems” with “one country, one system”. Therefore I am directing my administration to begin the process of eliminating policy exemptions that give Hong Kong different and special treatment.

My announcement today will affect the full range of agreements we have with Hong Kong, from our extradition treaty to our export controls on dual-use technologies and more with few exceptions.

We will be revising the State Department’s travel advisory for Hong Kong to reflect the increased danger of surveillance and punishment by the Chinese state security apparatus.

We will take action to revoke Hong Kong’s preferential treatment as a separate customs and travel territory from the rest of China.

The United States will also take necessary steps to sanction PRC and Hong Kong officials directly or indirectly involved in eroding Hong Kong’s autonomy and so just if you take a look, smothering absolutely smothering Hong Kong’s freedom.

Our actions will be strong. Our actions will be meaningful.

More than two decades ago,  in a rainy night in 1997, British soldiers lowered the Union Flag and Chinese soldiers raised the Chinese flag in Hong Kong. The people of Hong Kong felt simultaneously proud of their Chinese heritage and their unique Hong Kong identity.

The people of Hong Kong hope that in the years and decades to come. China would increasingly come to resemble its most radiant and dynamic city. The rest of the world was electrified by a sense of optimism that Hong Kong was a glimpse into China’s future. Not that, Hong Kong would grow into a reflection of China’s past.

In every decision. I will continue to proudly defend and protect the workers’ families and citizens of the United States of America. Thank you very much. Thank you.

I’m surprised you are bringing here a dissent from China, who by the way is very courageous as somebody commented, to show that Socialist regimes are bad and that Communist parties are evil. Is rea, American people have very bad memory. Everything now because the virus and the lies of Chinese government. What about Alexander Solzhenitsyn and Архипелаг ГУЛАГ (Arkhipelag GULAG) what about The Tian’anmen Square, what about the Cuban prisoners by Cuban Socialist regimen, what about the atrocities (open in the streets) by the Romanian dictator Chechesku. All those horrors perpetrated by Socialism in the 60sand 80s, so why Americans forgot .I think that people how to refresh their memory and think when in 1971 Kissinger initiated the diabolical process to establish relation with China under Nixon, he “work” with other countries to kick out Taiwán from UN and of course from WHO. Kissinger is considered as a brain of international relations he should be considered as a man responsible for the horrific dependency of the US from China He is still alive, why nobody interview him and ask the right question, the what,The Who, the where, and the when. A lot of political maneuver were taking place at that time, greed, $$$$$$$$. If we want to talk about accountability, let start with the biG fishes past and present, and when they pay the consequences for their actions, start with the little one. Somebody remember Senator McCarthy, he knew something was wrong in America with Communist infiltration, his huge mistake was his poor strategy, the lack of facts, and support by the high levels of government. But in order to know, all this,we need to study history; history which is absent for our American Educational System, that felt to teach the truth, the good, the bad, and the ugly In a calculated intention to cover up the wrong doing, all that is well explained in the document of 1984 “ The Nation at Risk” that Congress ignored. Unfortunately,we didn’t pay attention to all alerts, and now we are in this mess with China.

Woman in Wuhan Believes She Had CCP Virus As Early As in Oct. 2019.

Ms. Wang told the Epoch Times that she was petitioning during the Military World Games in Wuhan last Oct. CCP locked her into a hotel room to get rid of petitioners. After showing symptoms of fever, coughing, etc., she was sent to No. 1 Hospital in Wuhan and hospitalized for 8 days at the infection department.

After she was discharged, she continued to petition. She still had a fever and coughed a lot.

In early Jan., Dr. Huang Ying and the head nurse of No. 1 Hospital called her and asked her to go back to continue the treatment, as they believed that she had not been cured. But she didn’t go back as she was too busy petitioning.  She left Wuhan and went to Shanghai on Jan. 18, and has been staying Shanghai up to now.

In Mar or Apr, she saw the head nurse on TV and said that No.1 Hospital had seen CCP virus patients since Dec. At this stage, she realized that she must have the CCP Virus too, and the reason why Dr. Huang Ying asked her to go back was that Dr. Huang suspected she also had the CCP virus.

So she called back and asked for Dr. Huang Ying. But the person answering the phone said there was no such doctor in this hospital.

However, on No. 1 Hospital’s website, Huang Ying’s name and photo are still there

Twitter’s New Director has CCP Ties Deeper Than You Know: Fei-fei Li

On May 11, Twitter announced that it had added former Google VP and A.I. guru Fei-fei Li to its board of directors, because of her “unparalleled expertise in engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence”. It was reported that Twitter took this action “as it grapples with coronavirus misinformation”.

This news immediately sparked a lot of discussion and concerns, especially among overseas Chinese people, including myself. The main reason is because of Fei-fei Li’s ties with China, or the Chinese Communist Party, the CCP. Some call her “Red Expert”.

Today I’d like to talk about some deeper ties she has with the CCP that many people may not be aware of yet, as well as why we should be very worried.

   Background

First, let’s quickly go through her background, as some people may not know that much yet. Fei-fei Li-I’d rather call her Li Fei-fei, as that’s how her name is said in Chinese-was born in China in 1976. She migrated to America with her family when she was 16 and studied physics in Princeton University.

After graduating in 1999, she suddenly returned to China on her own for a year, claiming to be studying Tibetan medicine in Tibet.

Then she returned to the U.S., and pursued her Ph.D. degree at California Institute of Technology, choosing artificial intelligence (AI) and computational neuroscience as her major. She then worked as an assistant professor at the University of Illinois and Princeton University.

In 2009, she started to work at Stanford University, where she was promoted to professor and director of the Stanford AI Lab and Stanford Vision Lab.

While at Stanford, she became known in AI circles for starting ImageNet, the world’s largest image recognition database.

Then in January 2017,  she joined Google Cloud as its Chief Scientist of AI & Machine Learning, and led Google’s China team with her student Li Jia.

In Oct. 2018, she returned to Stanford.

And recently, as you’ve already known, she was appointed to Twitter’s board.

Mastering the Essence of the CCP’s Tone+Google’s AI Center in China

On Dec. 31, 2017, Google announced the establishment of its Google AI China Center at the “Google Developer Days” in Shanghai.

Li Fei-fei made a 15-minute speech in Chinese

She says, “Over the past few years, China has demonstrated an incredible capacity for development.”

She quotes Napoleon’s comment and refers to China as a “sleeping lion”.

She says, “In the world of AI, China has long since awakened as one of the world leaders. … China is also my hometown, I was born here, I grew up here, I have a lot of family and friends who live and work here, my heart is always here.”

She then claims with a lot of passion that “The science of AI has no borders. Neither do its benefits.

“AI can change the world. Breakthroughs made anywhere have the potential to make the lives of people in the entire world more wonderful.”

I must say that when I heard her saying so, I wanted very much to say to her, “Sorry, I don’t agree. Just like organ harvesting and transplant technology, in a normal society, it can save people’s lives. But in CCP’s China, it is used to mass murder innocent people so that their organs can be sold. Just as a harmless kitchen knife can also be used to kill if it’s in a murder’s hand. Why would you say that it doesn’t matter who masters the technology? Don’t you know that the Internet, AI, facial recognition have long become tools for the CCP to suppress dissidents? You are not a three-year-old little girl anymore. Why are you so naive?”

When giving an interview to Chinese media on that day about Google’s returning to China, Li Fei-fei used a very famous CCP slogan “stay true to our founding mission”. This slogan first appeared in CCP’s 19th National Congress to stress CCP’s legitimacy. By choosing such a term, Li Fei-fei had already shown her gesture.

And her gesture, or stance, did show itself throughout her speech on that day. She adopted CCP’s official narrative of “building a community of common destiny for all mankind.”

I must say that she has mastered the essence of the CCP’s tone, and expressed it quite well.

Many  Chinese state media reported about Li Fei-fei’s “returning to her motherland” with much excitement. One report says, “Returning to her motherland again, Ms. Li Fei-fei looks very excited…(再次回到故土,李飞飞女士表现得十分激动), This time Li Fei-fei officially took Google AI back to our country.

Cooperation with Military-Backed Project of Tsinghua University

Soon after its establishment,  Google AI’s China Center started its cooperation with Tsinghua University.

At the inauguration ceremony of the Tsinghua University’s Artificial Intelligence Institute on June 28, 2018, Jeff Dean, General Director of Google AI, was hired as a member of the Tsinghua University Computer Science Advisory Board. Li Fei-fei and her student Li Jia, were also at the ceremony to congratulate. After the ceremony, the Institute and the Google AI China Center co-hosted the “Tsinghua-Google AI Symposium” with keynote presentations by Jeff Dean, Li Fei-Fei,  LI Jia and experts from Tsinghua University.

What’s special about Tsinghua University’s AI project is that it has deep ties with the Chinese military.

In 1990, Tsinghua University established the first “Intelligent Technology and Systems” Lab in China and received more than 100 million yuan’s funding from the Central Military Commission of the CCP.

In June 2017, Tsinghua University established “Civil-Military Integration Cutting-edge Defense Technology Laboratory”, and chose AI as its top priority.

In 2018,  Vice-Chancellor of Tsinghua University You Zheng published an article titled “The Road to AI Development through Civil-Military Integration”, stating that Tsinghua University would follow the requirement of the CCP, to closely integrate the “National Strategy of Civil-Military Integration” and the “Strategy of Becoming a Powerful Country Via AI Technology”, and to ensure that the basic research of AI can effectively support the military applications.

The so-called “civil-military integration” is the CCP’s strategy of strengthening the military,  to provide technical support to the military.

In early Sep. 2018, Capital Online (首都在线), a China-based cloud solution provider, announced in an official WeChat article that Google Cloud had confirmed its cooperation with the company to enter China. However, the company soon withdrew the announcement without reason.

In July 2019, German-American Billionaire investor Peter Thiel accused Google of working with the Chinese military too, and called for the U.S. government to investigate.

On June 28, 2019, the official website of the Chinese Academy of Sciences published an article, saying that a top Chinese scientist in Google's artificial intelligence team had collaborated with researchers in Beijing to develop a "human-computer interaction" project,

On June 28, 2019, the official website of the Chinese Academy of Sciences published an article, saying that a top Chinese scientist in Google’s artificial intelligence team had collaborated with researchers in Beijing to develop a “human-computer interaction” project,

Google AI Involving in Developing Cutting-Edge Weapons for the CCP?

In fact, Google AI’s  China Center is not the only channel for Google’s cooperation with the CCP’s military system.

On June 28, 2019, the official website of the Chinese Academy of Sciences published an article, saying that a top Chinese scientist in Google’s artificial intelligence team had collaborated with researchers in Beijing to develop a “human-computer interaction” project, and presented a paper at a top international academic conference.

After the publication of this article, two anonymous Chinese researchers revealed that this technology allows fighter pilots or anti-aircraft missile operators to lock fast-moving targets with unprecedented speed and accuracy on a touch screen and that the J-20, the most advanced stealth fighter aircraft of the CCP, had the opportunity to use it.

Google quickly confirmed that it did have a presence in this study, but denied that it was related to the People’s Liberation Army of the CCP.

Interestingly, the Chinese Academy of Sciences made it clear in this initial version of the press release announcing the results of the study that the study “will have prospects for widespread application in a variety of fields, including military, medical, education and digital entertainment.”

However, after Google issued a statement, the mentioning of “military” was removed from the article on the official website of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

But on other Chinese websites, such as the website of Science and Technology Industry Network of the Chinese Academy of Sciences itself, the word “military” is still there

Western Returned Scholars Association

Li Fei-fei’s deep ties with the CCP can also be traced in her relationship with an important “United Front Work” organizaton of the CCP:  the “Western Returned Scholars Association”.

The “Western Returned Scholars Association” was established in 1913 in Beijing by some prominent scholars and intellectuals.

After the CCP came to power in 1949, the association was turned into an important tool for CCP’s “United Front Work”, and a lot of influential figures in politics, business, and academic circles were all members of this association.

For example, form CCP head Jiang Zemin, Premier Li Peng, Vice-Chairman of CCP’s Central Military Commission Liu Huaqing, and Vice Premier Li Lanqing were all once members of this association.

Over a third of the members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and two-thirds of the presidents of Chinese universities are also members.

According to the association’s own website, the association is “under the leadership of the General Secretary of CCP’s Central Committee, and the United Front Work Department actually manages the association on behalf of the CCP.

In August 2016, the General Office of the CCP’s  Central Committee issued a formal notification regarding how to “strengthen”  the Western Returned Scholars Association. The guidelines include strengthening CCP’s leadership over the association, attracting more members, providing venues and ensuring funds, etc.

From all these, we can see clearly that this association is almost under 100% control and direct leadership of the CCP, although it has many overseas members. It can be counted as CCP’s highest level “United Front” organization.

According to the assocation’’s website, on August 19, 2018, the 13th Beijing Forum of the association was held in Beijing.  Dai Junling, Deputy Director of CCP’s United Front Work Department, as well as many other prominent United Front Work figures attended this forum. Li Fei-fei and another professor at Standford University, Prof. Zhang Shoucheng also attended that forum.

Zhang Shoucheng was a famous Chinese-American physicist and was once regarded as a potential winner for the Nobel Prize in physics.

In 2017, Li Fei-fei and Zhang Shoucheng were both selected as “top 50 Overseas Chinese Schloars”.

And what’s special about  Zhang Shoucheng? It was reported that he was chosen by the CCP when he was only 15 years old, to carry out CCP’s strategy of stealing techonloly from the West.

The venture capital firm “Danhua Capital ” he founded had connections with CCP’s funds,  which has been linked to the Chinese technology transfer program Made in China 2025.

In 2018, Danhua Capital was listed as an example of CCP’s venture capital investment in the US by the US government, including the Defense Department

It was reported that Zhang’s connections to Beijing had drawn attention from the FBI, and “a cloud of suspicion was forming over him”.

Then, on December 1, 2018, Zhang died in what news reports call a suicide. His family said that he died “after fighting a battle with depression.”

But people question whether he really killed himself, or was murdered because he knew too many secrets about CCP’s technology stealing program.

The reason why I spent so much time talking about Zhang Shoucheng is not for the sake of talking about  Zhang Shoucheng, but to present the fact that Li Fei-fei was given the same sort of treatment, honor, and attention as that of Zhang Shoucheng by the CCP, the CCP organizations, and CCP’s media. That’s why the two were either invited to the same CCP event or appeared on the same reward list of the CCP.

Future Forum

Apart from the “Western Returned Scholars Association”, Li Fei-fei also has close ties with a very high profile organization, the Future Forum in China. She is a member of the forum’s Science Committee, while Zhang Shoucheng was a founding member of the forum.

Li Fei-fei’s student  Li Jia and Zhang Shoucheng’s partner Johnny Zhang are at the Youth Council of the forum.

It is worth noting that the Future Forum is directed by the China Association for Science and Technology and supported by the Beijing Chaoyang District Government, and its strategic media partners include CCP’s most important mouthpieces including People’s Daily and Xinhua.

Dozens of most important Chinese IT Giants, as well as sons of top CCP leaders, the so-called “Second-generation Reds” are also members of the forum. For example, Liu Lefei, son of former Chinese Communist Party Politburo Standing Committee member Liu Yunshan, is a council member of the forum. Zhu Yunlai, son of former Prime Minister Zhu Rongji, is a member of the Consultative Committee.

Council member Mary Ma is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Boyu Capital, which was founded by former CCP head Jiang Zemin’s grandson Jiang Zhicheng
Li Fei-fei was apparently invited to the Future Science Prize award ceremony and gave speeches more than once. Her group photos with the prominent CCP top elites can still be seen at many Chinese websites.

Sequoia Capital and  Sequoia Professor

In June last year,  Stanford University announced that Li Fei-Fei had become its first “Sequoia  [sɪˈkwɔɪə] Professor”. The Sequoia Professorship at Stanford University is a chair established by Sequoia Capital. Shen Nanpeng, founder of Sequoia Capital China Fund, also serves on the board of the Future Forum, as does Li Fei-fei.

Sequoia Capital, which once topped the Forbes Global Best Venture Capitalists’s 2018 list, has a track record of co-investing with Boyu Capital on multiple occasions. Sequoia Capital also had a joint stake in Alibaba with Boyu Capital.

From this, we can also see how deep the ties go.

Thousand Talents Program

The Thousand Talents Program established in 2008 by the CCP to identify and to recruit leading international experts in scientific research, innovation, entrepreneurship is now widely recognized as a program to encourage economic espionage and theft of intellectual property. The FBI has long since started to investigate some overseas Chinese experts in the program, and a lot of Chinese websites have deleted articles related to this program.

Up to now, there is no public record showing that Li Fei-fei has joined this program. However, a number of people who have very close relationships with her have very strong ties with the Thousand Talents Program.

For example, at the 2017 Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition held in Hawaii, Li Feifei mentioned a lot of people who had given her support. Among them are Prof. Song-Chun Zhu in UCLA and  Prof. Kai Li in Princeton. She also mentioned that her first job at the University of Illinois was given to her by Prof. Thomas Huang , a leading figure in computer vision.

Public record shows that Song-Chun Zhu was chosen as the “Changjiang (Yangtze River) Scholars” Professor in 2009 by the Education Ministry of China, and selected as a special expert for the “Thousand People Program” in 2010.

According to a special interview by China Computer FederationProf. Kai Li is also a visiting professor at Tsinghua University, a visiting professor at the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a partner, and a researcher of the “Thousand People Program”. The PDF file of that interview can still be found, however, many media reports about this interview have already been deleted.

Thomas Huang, who died recently,  was elected as a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2001 and a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2002.

From April 22 to May 2, 2012, Chongqing Research Institute President Yuan Jiahu came to the United States to solicit talent at Harvard and other 10 colleges and universities. After nine special recruitment seminars, four experts were selected into the “Thousand Talents Program”, 2 were chosen for the “Thousand Youth Talents Plan”, while four scientists including Thomas Huang were appointed as experts of  Chongqing Research Institute’s “Strategic Advisory Committee”.

Apart from those, Li Fei-fei’s student Lu Cewu (卢策吾) was also recuited into “Thousand Youth Talents Plan” in 2010.

Lu Cewu is also the executive deputy director of the Joint Lab of Shanghai Jiaotong University and SenseTime, an AI technology company.

CCP’s Teams Win Top Prize at ImageNet’s Competition

In 2016, SenseTime participated in ImageNet ILSVRC2016 (large-scale image recognition competition), which was founded by Li Fei-Fei, and took the first place in three projects.

SenseTime’s founder, Dr. Xu Li, has publicly stated that his company uses a lot of video data from the Guangzhou Public Security System to develop video analysis software, and “we can easily gather the data information we need for any use scenario.” He said. “And the biggest source of data is the government.”

It is worth noting that the winners of the targeting and scenario classification in this competition were Trimps-Soushen and the HikVision

For the name “Trimps-Soushen”,  Trimps, T-R-I-M-P-S, stands for The Third Research Institute of Ministry of Public Security, or in Chinese In brief, Trimps is the research institute for advancing the technologies for CCP’s police force.

Soushen should be the team name under Trimps. It means god of search, where Sou (搜) means search and Shen (神) means god.

HikVision is the world’s largest surveillance equipment manufacturer and is controlled by CCP. It is known for assisting the CCP in its human rights violations, and US lawmakers are calling for sanctions against it.

So, to put it simply, CCP’s police team and the team of the largest surveillance equipment manufacturer were given top prizes at the ImageNet’s competition, and ImageNet was founded by Li Fei-fei.

Isn’t the connection obvious enough?

Put all the information above together, we can see that Li Fei-fei’s ties with the CCP are really deeper than most of us know. That’s why many overseas Chinese people, especially Twitter users,  became very worried upon learning the news that Li was appointed to Twitter’s board.

I Also Have Fear

As a matter of fact, I hesitated a lot whether I should do this program or not, after I learned that a Chinese analyst, Caijinglengyan’s 4 Twitter accounts were all suspended after he did a similar program about Li Fei-fei. I was afraid of losing my 148 K Twitter followers.

So I posted a tweet and asked my followers’ opinions whether I should do this program or not. Most people voted yes, and that gave me the courage to actually do it. Fingers crossed that nothing bad will happen after this. Please pray for me.

Okey, that’s all for today. Now I understand more about how hard it is to speak truth to power, even in the free world, which is not that free already. Please support me so that we can fight together to win back our freedom.

Thank you, see you next time.
