Fangfang’s Wuhan Diary: No Questions Are Answered

By Fangfang (Translated into English by Jennifer Zeng)

(Note from Jennifer: Fangfang is an author in Wuhan who became very well known since she started writing “Wuhan Diary” after the lockdown of Wuhan in January.)

Today is the 61st day since the lockdown. I started writing a diary on Weibo from January 25th, two days later than the lockdown. So this is the 59th article.

It’s sunny today, very comfortable weather. I finally took my dog to the pet hospital in the afternoon. His skin disease recurred, and the whole body ulcerated. I must seek treatment for him. My fingers are also cracked and I dare not handle them carelessly. The pet hospital quickly sent me a video showing a large basin of black water after they washed my dog. They will shave him too. The dog was born on Christmas Eve in 2003. It will be 17 years old by the end of this year and he is very old. Almost all of the dogs of other people raised at the same time have died. Only my dog is still alive and able to eat and play. His eyesight and hearing are getting worse. Since he is old now, his skin problems become difficult to cure. I usually take him to a pet hospital to take a medicine bath, take medicine and treat it every once in a while. But this time, the interval was too long. Fortunately, everything improved and I was finally relieved to have the hospital take care of it.

On the street, several buses have begun trial operation, and subway stations are also being cleaned and disinfected in preparation for the upcoming traffic. These messages were conveyed to each other with surprise. The previous terrifying new case number has now stayed at 0, always 0, for 5 days.

My brother posted photos in the chat group in the morning. Today someone has gone to their community to do haircuts. It is a ten-minute quick cut. The spot is right on the playground under his window. Today’s sunny weather is good. Residents are lined up, about a meter apart, and there is a long line. My brother said that they lined up all day for the cut. This district was once one of the most dangerous districts in Wuhan, and now it is also included in the list of non-outbreak districts. My brother has been locked down at home far more than sixty days, and he looks particularly relaxed today. For a weaker person like his, the absence of illness for two months is a gift from heaven to him.

Before the Spring Festival, according to Mayor Zhou, five million people in Wuhan have left. I have seen the notice these days, most of them can come back if they have the health code (health certificate). My aunt also left a message for me. She will also be home in about two days. A group of classmates staying in Hainan will also come back. We were supposed to have seafood together before. But the result was, we watched them dangling by the sea every day while trapped at home. They were trapped outside, and now they can easily drive back to Wuhan.

It is said that in Wuhan today, it is easier to get in than getting out. This reminds me, what about those who came to Wuhan before the lockdown? Are they still here? Staying in Wuhan for two months is probably the hardest day in their lives, right? How many are they? I’m afraid no one has counted it accurately. I asked a casual question today and found that it was not a small number, and they were still stranded here. At present, all transportation in Wuhan is not open, and planes, trains, coaches, and even self-driving cars cannot go out. Those who are stranded in Wuhan, and their family members who are worried for them, how have they spent the two months of spring and winter? It is hard to imagine.

My neighbor Y told me that among their “Shadow Dream Team” volunteers, there were two people from other cities who could not return, one from Nanning, Guangxi. After seeing the epidemic in Wuhan, he came to volunteer here. Then the lockdown happened and he couldn’t go back. The other one is from Guangdong, and he has no transportation to go back. The volunteer team has been providing them with food and drink and plans to help them buy a return ticket after the city is reopened. A doctor friend who has been telling me about the progress of the epidemic also said today that he has a few friends who came to Wuhan on a business trip and were all sealed up here, unable to return home. This stay was two months, and it started in winter. At this time, the vernal equinox had passed, and they had no clothes to change. A friend is the boss of a company in Beijing. As he could not return, the company could not be able to operate.

n the epidemic, these people who were unfortunately stranded in Wuhan were too marginal. For a long time, no one even thought of them. Later, only when some of them who lived in the city’s underground passage without eating or drinking were discovered and were reported about by reporters, did people start to think: Oh, there are still such a group of people. Oh, these people are miserable. The government has also introduced some measures to give them a place to live. Then, after so much time passed again, what was unexpected was that they were still stranded here. They are waiting for reopening more eagerly than the nine million Wuhan people who have a home here. Sometimes I think, if there were more people in the world who had cared, who had helped the government to come up with an idea, who had thought of a way to let them go home earlier, wouldn’t that be good? For example, count the number of people, look at their health codes, save a car for each province, take them to their provincial capital, and quarantine by the other party ’s designated hotel, and then let them go home after 14 days. This is not difficult. You can do it if you want it. This easy-to-solve problem can help so many people get out of their predicament. Why not try it out?

The message that people from Hubei are not allowed to enter Beijing has been spreading from yesterday to today. I can’t believe it. Until now, I still don’t believe it. Because, I really don’t know the difference between a healthy Hubei person and a healthy non-Hubei person. If Beijing really refuses to allow Hubei people to enter Beijing, it is bad luck for Hubei people, but it is not a shame for Hubei people. It is a shame to the person who made this recommendation and adopted it. Of course, it is also a shame of civilization. Many years later, when we look back, we will see that in 2020, our history of civilization is on such a scale. Therefore, I still do not want to believe this fact, but it is worth recording.

There is also bad news today: Many days ago, among the medical staff who came to Wuhan to support, a young Guangxi nurse suddenly fainted in the hospital. Fortunately, many doctors were present at the time, and she was rescued quickly. This incident has been reported in the media, and we are grateful for her escape. But at night, my doctor friend told me that she still died. Her life suddenly ended at the forefront of the battle against the epidemic. Her name is Liang Xiaoxia and she was 28 years old. Let us remember her forever and may she rest in peace.

These days, the voice of seeking accountability is very weak, and I have almost ignored it myself. It seems that in-depth investigations by journalists have become very rare, almost none. In the evening, I saw an article entitled “41 Epidemic Reports That Have Disappeared”. The last sentence of the article says: “Picking up the thorns hidden in the depths, accepting the pain in the dark of the society, and the media has tried to expose the truth with its limited power and to rush to light. Although some reports disappeared today, for now, there must be a place for them in history’s manuscript. “I may be a little waking up and try to speculate: are the disappearing of those reports and the sudden attacks on me, and deleting of my posts happening synchronized?

However, as to the matter as seeking accountability, I am still willing to believe that there will be consensus from top to bottom: this is a must-do. If such a big matter is not held accountable, I don’t know how the officials can face the world. And I will keep track of progress. Take a closer look: those who are responsible should, in principle, should resign on their own initiative, as least a few of them should. I remember that a few did so after the SARS outbreak. But what I can see today it, none from Hubei actually resigned, not a single one. I really “admire” these people. The more funny thing is, while in the past, officials tried to blame experts and experts tried to blame officials, now everyone is blaming the US. A few days ago, I had read several articles by economist Hua Sheng, which was very interesting. His article mentions a “deep-throat” person in Wuhan. If it were not for this “deep throat”, that the outbreak would have been exposed much later. To be precise, this “deep throat” is the real whistleblower. When I read this article, the picture of file “Lurk” appeared in my mind. I told my friend a few days ago that I really want to know who this “deep throat” is. Friends agreed. This person can be written into a novel.

In some WeChat articles that my friend sent me, I saw an article by Professor Du Junfei of Nanjing University. Professor Du is a PhD in Sociology, and his articles often raise important issues. In this article, he asked seven questions:

1. After the front line hospital found the epidemic, couldn’t the direct internet reporting system be triggled and used?

2. After the expert group arrived in Wuhan, was it really impossible for them to grasp the actual situation that this epidemic is human-to-human e?

3. After the information of the epidemic was leaked, did the relevant departments really need to deal with the people who leaked the information first?

4. If everyone was unwilling to take responsibility, is it really that only Zhong Nanshan was qualified to report the truth to the public?

5. When the epidemic in Wuhan was getting worse and worse in Wuhan, is it really that people who were managing the city couldn’t predict the lack of medical resources in advance?

6. When the epidemic and panic spread simultaneously, is it really only a lockdown of the city was the best choice?

7. After the lockdown of the city, can’t the patients diagnosed be properly diverted to other provinces with idle medical resources?

In fact, Professor Du should have more questions. After the seventh question, he left a row of ellipsis. In other words, he didn’t finish the question. In fact, we in Wuhan can ask more questions. Unfortunately, almost no questions were answered.

This is my 59th diary. I have told many people long ago, I will stop after writing the 60th. So tomorrow will be the last one. Many readers, in order to wait to see my diaries, didn’t want to go to sleep, saying that the biological clock was messed up. I want to say that there is one day left tomorrow, after that, you don’t have to wait. But I really appreciate their waiting.

I still want to say that this is a personal record of me in the epidemic, which is purely personal memory. At first, I didn’t even think it was a “diary”. Because the word “diary” was not what I proposed. Only later, this record became a daily record. When others said it was a “diary”, I did not object. Its original motive was a record for completing the manuscript to facilitate writing. Inadvertently, this is the way to go, this is really called forgetting the original intention.

China Unknown Virus

(Jennifer’s note: I received the following email with the article below. After inquiring about a doctor’s opinion as to what she thinks about the disease mentioned in this email, I decided to publish it. Perhaps, this is the only thing I can do as a writer/blogger.)

I am XXX, from China Beijing. I work for a COMPANY in the United States TOP500, Vice President, China. I would like to share with you the information about an unknown virus because it relates to 30K or more people’s lives in China. If the virus spreads again, it may endanger the whole world, like novel coronavirus. This problem is not only harmful to the health of Chinese citizens, but also to the health of U.S. citizens. The Chinese government does not recognize and conceals the facts. So, I had to write to you. Please believe everything I say, and I look forward to your contact.)

There was a strange infectious disease in China from 2008, but some say this virus was found as early as 1995 in China.

Pathogeny:

A lot of patients, because of dangerous sexual transmission (Sex with strangers), or after blood contact, they developed a series of symptoms like AIDS. But HIV tests are negative.
Symptom:
These symptoms include White tongue fur, Slight inflammation of intestine, Mild nephritis, Red spots on skin, Arthritis, Thyroid nodule, insomnia…
For T-lymphocyte subsets examination, CD4 almost is lower than 400, and CD8 is higher than 400. So CD4/CD8 is lower than 100%.
Route of infection
Transmission mode of virus: Air, saliva, sex, blood. Different from HIV, this Virus could spread by air and saliva. After the patient was infected, the same symptoms quickly appeared in their family, Parents, partner, children. Usually, their family members have fewer symptoms than the main patient
Disease development process:
After 3 months to 1 year, 20% of the patients entered the incubation period and their symptoms were relieved. But another’s 80% of patients Symptoms persist.
In the 1-6 year, Some of the patients die due to cancer, heart disease, kidney failure and other symptoms
After 5-10 year, Symptoms suddenly worsen, and most patients face complete collapse of the immune system, Final death. Some of the patients.
Related investigation and Research
China’s Government and Center for Disease Control begin to investigate this issue from 2009 to 2013. In this period, 59 patients were investigated. But China Government finally announced they didn’t find any virus in their blood, and they don’t think it will be an Infectious disease. But they find some of another virus in this patient, like ED, HSV, HPV virus. And they think it like CFS, it due to psychological factors.
But all of the patient’s feedback is what is could spread by Air, saliva. Their family gets similar symptoms. Like their children, they don’t know anything, but children have white tongue fur. And they think only very close people could be Infected. Besides it, Goiter must be caused by the virus. And when they take AIDS drugs, they get better. But because of drug resistance, Symptom will be repeated.
In the past 5-6 years, more and more patients were getting it, and they complain to China CDC, but the government ignored them. Hospitals and Doctors have been given clear instructions that these people are psychologically ill.
So, we think China Government may deliberately hide the virus, due to could not find the virus, they are worried about the social panic caused by the air spread unknown virus.
Social harm: By China patient Statistics, these patients in severe condition maybe around 3000 people in 2011. (Exclude some of the patients with mild symptoms) But in the end of 2019, this group increase to 20K to 30K people. (Exclude some of the patients with mild symptoms). Even this group is not Hugh in China, but now it spread to Taiwan, Hongkong, Singapore, Vietnam. A Taiwan Immunologists say there are many similar patients in Taiwan recently. I am not sure whether it only happens in the Yellow race, I really don’t hear it from other races.
I am worried about if virus variation, make improvement of air and saliva transmission capacity. It would like to novel coronavirus, quickly spread to the global market.

The following photos are provided by the author of this article showing patients of infected with this unknown virus trying to draw public awareness in China. The Chinese characters on the men’s T-shirts say “Save our children! The entire family infected!”

5.png

6.png

7.png

8.png

9.png

Facts and reasons:

During September 2019-March 2020, Defendant 1, US Federal Government and Defendant 2, the US Centers for Disease Control, while knowing that among the influenza patients, some were infected by an unknown type of virus (Novel CoronaVirus), intentionally clarified them as “flu” patients, and released wrong public health information in order to conceal the true situation of the novel coronavirus outbreak in the US in 2019, and let it spread to the world. Wuhan City, Hubei Province, People’s Republic of China is one of the most damaged areas. Due to the outbreak, the original order of operation, production, and residents’ lives in China, especially in the city of Wuhan, were severely damaged. The plaintiff, as a citizen of Wuhan, was also severely affected. The defendants’ evasion of reporting and concealment of the truth violated the legitimate rights and interests of the people in the affected areas, including the plaintiff, and caused huge economic and mental losses to the plaintiff.

The specific infringement facts are explained as follows:

1. According to the defendant’s official website of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, the weekly “U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report” as of March 7, 2020 (hereinafter referred to as the “U.S. Flu Report”) shows that from From September to March 2020, the United States flu season, at least 36 million people in the United States contracted the flu, 370,000 were hospitalized with the flu, and 22,000 died from the flu. Compared with previous years, the number of infections and deaths is abnormally high.

2. At a public hearing on the novel coronavirus pneumonia held by the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Committee on March 11, 2020, the second defendant, Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, admitted that in the United States, not every city, every state and every hospital has a novel coronavirus pneumonia surveillance system. In practice, some people who died of “flu” were actually infected with the novel coronavirus. This shows that in the United States, the so-called “flu” or “super flu” is used to cover up the fact that a large number of people died of the novel coronavirus. Based on the fact that the United States has not yet disclosed the specific number of alleged “some” deaths, the plaintiffs have reason to believe that from September 2019 to March 2020, the 20,000 people who died in the so-called “flu” in the United States were all novel coronavirus deaths. There are also reasons to believe that among 36 million people infected with the so-called “flu” and 370,000 people hospitalized with the so-called “flu”, there are a large number of patients with the novel coronavirus.

3. According to Defendant 2, the US CDC ’s so-called “flu” deaths which were actually novel coronavirus deaths, were counted from September 2019. Combined with the second aspect of the above facts, the plaintiff believes that the deaths of US novel coronavirus had happened as early as September 2019. This was more than a month and a half earlier than the World Military Games held on October 18, 2019, in Wuhan.

4. Since September 2019, when deaths from the novel coronavirus, as well as a large number of novel coronavirus patients, appeared in the U.S, until March 11, 2020, when the US made the first public admission of it, in a period as long as 6 months, defendant 1, the U.S. federal The government and defendant 2, the US CDC deliberately concealed the death of novel coronavirus and attributed it to influenza. They failed to comply with Article 6 of the International Health Regulations (2005) “Each Contracting Party shall adopt the International Health Regulations by the most effective means of communication available. The relative national department shall inform the WHO within 24 hours of public health information of all events that have occurred in the country’s territory and which, according to decision-making documents, may constitute an international public health emergency, and the actions taken in response to these events.” The defendants failed to timely and truthful notify the World Health Organization about the above-mentioned facts, thus making countries around the world let their guards down, and prevented the Chinese government from taking appropriate border inspection, quarantine and prevention and control measures against U.S. personnel coming to China.

5. October 18, 2019 was the day when the World Military Games in Wuhan were held. As the defendants 1 and 2 deliberately concealed the fact that the novel coronavirus appeared in their own country, the People’s Republic of China and its affiliated Wuhan city failed to conduct special physical inspections and or quarantine the US delegates (officials, technical officers, and athletes) led by Defendant 3, US Department of Defense, and Defendant 4, U.S. Military Sports Council. This led to the transmission of the virus to Wuhan, resulting in Wuhan seeing its first novel coronavirus case in early November, shortly after the World Military Games ended on October 27, 2019. Then, starting in December, a certain number of new cases appeared around several hotels and military villages ( There were U.S. officials and technical officials in each of the hotels and athletes in the military villages. The hotels mainly located around South China, or Huanan Seafood Market ). It also began to occur in the hotel area in Hankou in mid-to-late January 2020, and then spread to the entire country with China’s annual Spring Festival, when people returning to their hometown. For this reason, the United States has an inescapable responsibility for intentional concealment.

6. After the epidemic broke out in Wuhan, the Chinese government actively notified the World Health Organization and other countries in the world, and adopted unprecedented prevention and control aimed at cutting off the virus transmission chain at the expense of the economic development of Wuhan and the convenience of travel of the people of Wuhan. However, under such kind of circumstances, Defendant 1, the US Federal Government and Defendant 2, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, still concealed the truth, and publicly underplayed the novel coronavirus as a “flu”. Feareing that the concealment would be exposed, they only adopted passive criteria locally to test the novel coronavirus, which was “ obvious infection symptoms + close contact with confirmed patients”. This confirms their subjective intention of inaction and the true intention of concealing the actual status of the US epidemic.

7. As the defendant’s symbolic head of state and leader of the United States of America, President Donald Trump publicly referred to the novel coronavirus as “Chinese virus” when he attended the U.S. Epidemic Press Conference on March 19, 2020, Washington, U.S.A. Chinese Virus, irrespective of the official naming decision announced by the World Health Organization, in violation of the “WHO Best Practices in Naming New Human Infectious Diseases”, “terms that should be avoided in disease names include geographic location (such as Influenza, Rift Valley fever), name of person (eg Kreuzfeldt-Jacob disease, Chagas disease), animal or food population (swine flu, bird flu, monkeypox), culture-related, population, industry or occupation (such as the Legion) and terms that can incite excessive panic (such as unknown, lethal, and epidemic), linking the virus to China, causing discrimination, playing a misleading role, and undermined the integrity of the society of China and the Chinese people. As a member of the Chinese citizen, the plaintiff believed that US President Donald Trump ’s speech at the White House represented Defendant 1 ’s behavior, which seriously violated the plaintiff ’s reputation. The Defendant must make a public apology to the plaintiff.

8. The novel coronavirus epidemic originated in the United States has caused huge personal and property losses to Wuhan’s novel coronavirus pneumonia patients and their families. According to the official website of the National Health Committee of the People’s Republic of China: As of 24:00 on March 17, a total of 50005 confirmed cases and 2490 dead cases had been confirmed in Wuhan. These are all human lives lost in bloody pains. In addition to the plaintiff’s complaint, all patients and their families in Wuhan who suffer from the novel coronavirus will continue to reserve the right to hold the four defendants accountable.

9. According to the announcement of the Novel Coronavirus Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters of the Chinese government, since January 23, 2020, the city of Wuhan has been locked down. Enterprise units have stopped production to prevent and control the spread of the novel coronavirus. As a result, the plaintiff has been able to work until this day, and have lost source of income and suffered huge economic losses. The four defendants, as the perpetrators of the infringement, should compensate the plaintiff for the losses.

10. Although the principle of national sovereignty immunity is an international practice of international law, it is also subject to the principle of national reciprocity, and the defendant did not sign the United Nations Convention on Jurisdictional Immunities of States and Their Property. Therefore, the plaintiff’’s rights should also be protected on a reciprocal basis. In summary, the four defendants’ disclosure of “novel coronavirus” in the name of “flu” to deceive the public and their behavior of suppression of the information has led to the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic worldwide. One of the affected areas was Wuhan City, Hubei Province, People’s Republic of China. In addition, the defendant had deliberately stigmatized the “novel coronavirus” with the people of China and Wuhan, which seriously infringed the plaintiff’s rights of reputation, health, and property rights, and caused huge losses to the plaintiff’s reputation, health, rights to property and other personal rights. In order to protect the plaintiff’s legitimate rights and interests, a civil lawsuit is now being filed with your court.

Sincerely to

I Met the Virus, He Told Me His Plan

By Xia Wen |

A few weeks ago, the virus crossed the Pacific Ocean and reached my city on a large scale. Many people became ill and many lives were lost. A huge shadow enveloped the previously beautiful and carefree city.

I saw the incarnation of the virus. It is a red devil, wearing its new red crown, sneering over the city, it is planning a larger-scale meat feast.

But right now it looks human and innocent. It said, “I came here just to make people live happier lives! You must have seen it: In China, people are feeling so happy and safe because of me, right?”

I said, “How can that happen? People are just scared by you, who will be happy because of you?”

The virus looked at me, mocking and with disdain: “What you see is just the surface. In fact, people are grateful to me, and even they love me!”

Looking at my unbelieving eyes, the virus continued, “You see, the mortality rate is less than 5%, so only a handful of people die. For 70 years, time and time again, always a large group of people fights a small group of people. There are more killed and disabled than this. Haven’t they given thanks and said things are great? ”

The virus went on to say: “Moreover, I just let a small number of people die physically, and didn’t blame them for anything, right? When they left, they only suffered a little bit of physical pain. Compared to the 70-year-old organization that made all the people painful both spiritually and physically, am I very kind? ”

I actually thought it seemed to make sense, and was speechless.

The virus saw my “understanding” and continued to play: “You see, I am now moving from China to the world. How many Chinese people applaud me, and delight in their hearts, and how many people feel great patriotic happiness because of me?”

I rejected and said, “They are just being fooled by the propaganda, that doesn’t mean they really love you.”

The virus widely opened its eyes and said, “You are wrong. What is true love? True love depends on actual action. I was born under the Chinese system and grew stronger under the Chinese system. Look at them, they will praise and be grateful for the system even more. By doing so, they expanded my hotbed and made it more comfortable. Now you say, don’t they really love me? ”

I couldn’t even refute what the virus said, because that’s exactly what is happening now.

I thought about this city in distress, and asked, “Why do you come here and do harm to the world? You know, people here will not be grateful to you.”

The virus smiled proudly. “That’s why I came to the world. I still lack the soil to provide me with nutrition. I can only come for a blitz now and cannot stay long. I do this to make more countries believe that they must copy the model of China, treating China as a teacher, learning about China ’s system, which we call “the common community of human destiny’. If that happens, I can stay in the world forever. ”

When I heard the virus talking about China in such a tone, I couldn’t help saying to myself, “China, China, that is the 5,000-year-old Divine Land that I loved.”

The virus interrupted me dismissively: “Don’t mention that 5,000 years anymore, that has been broken since 1949, and now China is mine. When my plan is realized, the world will belong to me.”

I felt that the situation was more serious than what is happening now, and I couldn’t help worrying about it.

Seeing my look, the virus became more proud, smirking, and the blood redness on its face became heavier. It said, “Look, you are scared now. I might as well tell you my ultimate plan.”

“Now people say that the first half is in China and the second half is in the world. That’s wrong! My action is three waves. The next wave is more powerful than the previous one. The first wave is the SARS virus. The second wave is what you see now. When it’s time for the third wave, I will not restrain myself anymore, more deadly viruses will appear, and any human protection measures will be too late for the third wave. ”

“When the third wave comes, it will no longer only target a handful. I will take away all those who side with me and be grateful to me. I will take them to another world. It is almost time to harvest. Only they can truly be my people, they will always belong to me, this day is coming, hahaha … ”

Amidst the harsh laughter, the red devil faded away. I know that many people need to be woken up, the sooner the better.

China Takes Countermeasures Against US Suppression of Chinese Media Organizations in the United States

(Jennifer’s note: The following is the English translation of a Chinese language statement published at the website of CONSULATE-GENERAL OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA IN AUCKLAND)

March 18, 2020 2020/03/18

In recent years, the U.S. government has unreasonably restricted the normal news reporting activities of Chinese media agencies and personnel in the United States, making it unreasonably difficult, and has escalated discrimination and political suppression against the Chinese media, especially in December 2018, the United States requested relevant Chinese media agencies in the United States to be registered as a “foreign agent”, and listed five Chinese media agencies in the United States as “foreign missions” in February 2020, and then adopted a number of restrictions on the above five media agencies in the United States. The United States also limited the number of reporters of the above mentioned 5 Chinese media outlets. This equals to expelling Chinese reporters in a disguised way. China immediately made solemn representations to the US regarding its wrongdoing, expressed its firm opposition and strong condemnation, and stressed that it reserves the right to respond and take measures.

1. In response to the fact that five Chinese media agencies in the United States are listed as “foreign missions”, China now requires five American media outlets including “Voice of America”, “New York Times”, “Wall Street Journal”, “Washington Post”, and “Time” to report to China in writing the information of all their staff members as well as their financial, business operations, and real estate ownership information.

2. Second, in response to the significant reduction of personnel in the United States and the actual deportation of employees of Chinese media agencies in the United States, China requires American journalists who work for the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post, and whose press passes will expire at the end of this year, to report within four days from today to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and to return their press passes within 10 days. In the future, they are not allowed to continue to work as a journalists in the People’s Republic of China, including Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions.

3. China will take reciprocal measures against American journalists in view of discriminatory restrictions imposed by the US on Chinese journalists in visas, administrative examinations, and interviews.

The above-mentioned measures by the Chinese side are totally a necessary counter-reaction against the United States’ unreasonable suppression of the Chinese media agencies in the United States, and are completely legitimate defenses. The U.S. approach to the Chinese media is based on Cold War thinking and ideological prejudice. It seriously damages the reputation and image of the Chinese media, seriously affects the normal operation of the Chinese media in the United States, severely disrupts the normal humanities exchanges between China and the United States, and exposes the so-called “self-proclaimed” The hypocrisy of “freedom of the press”. China urges the United States to immediately change its course and correct mistakes, and stop political suppression and unreasonable restrictions on the Chinese media. If the U.S. insists on doing it alone, adding wrong to wrong, China will surely take further countermeasures.

China’s basic national policy of adhering to opening up has not changed, nor will it change. We always welcome media and journalists from various countries to conduct interviews and reports in China in accordance with laws and regulations, and will continue to provide convenience and assistance. What we are opposed to is ideological prejudice against China. We are opposed to making fake news through the so-called freedom of the press. We are opposed to acts that violate journalistic ethics. It is hoped that foreign media and journalists will play an active role in promoting mutual understanding between China and the world.

Regulations for Internet Commentators

(Jennifer’s note: The following is the English and Chinese version of the Chinese Communist Party’s regulations for internet commentators. )

CAC(Cyberspace Administration of China) Internal Documentation for Internet Commentators(no spreading)

General Rule:

The war of Internet public opinion is of vital importance to the life and death of the regime of the People’s Republic of China. For the prosperity and strength of our motherland and the revitalization of the Chinese nation, all online commentators should always be prepared to defend the country’s Internet firewall with their intelligence and diligence.

Methods:

1.    During working hours, online commentators must check their work email at least once every hour so as to grasp the latest spirit in the instructions from their superiors.

2.    Online commentators ought to cooperate as per request. When needed, work teams consist of commentators from different regions and professions will be formed to implement specific tasks. If necessary, superiors will transfer personnel from other groups to understaffed teams.

3.    Basic working procedures: the routine work for each group only focuses on specific websites. Different groups are held accountable for relevant forums of different major websites. The daily work serves to defend the correct guidance of public opinion according to the overall guidelines. In the case of a sudden public opinion outbreak, the routine work should be suspended. Instead, commentators should follow the instructions of special working teams in superior departments. The staff and resources should be devoted to the guidance of public opinion on the emergency.

4.    Online commentators should be skillful in concealing their real identities. They must have multiple different usernames, with which they need to post articles in various styles of writing. If required, members of different working teams can pretend to be netizens who are debating in forums. Then, the third party can put forward strong evidence to guide the public opinion in its favor.

5.    When rumors are spreading in the cyberspace, commentators should find the original post and the publisher as soon as possible. Commentators should compel the website administrators to delete the original post. Then, commentators should copy and post the content of the deleted post and use another IP address to declare themselves as local citizens in which the rumor took place. Then, commentators should use the account of forum moderators or other netizens to point out that the IP address does not belong to the area where the rumor was referring to, thus proving the message a canard.

6.    If needed, commentators can post fake news that is more sensational to capture the attention of netizens. Then, commentators should soon clarify that those pieces of information are purely rumors.

7.    On some popular forums where the credibility of netizens is usually high, commentators should go make a mess. Commentators can intervene by posting ambiguous articles, distort viewpoints irrationally in their comments, incite misunderstandings, and debates to distract the netizens’ attention from some issues.

8.    It is difficult to gain control of the public opinion on websites overseas. When commentators fail to dominate the public opinion on foreign forums, they can use short, irrational, and meaningless posts to spam the forum. When the screen is flooded with a pointless mess, netizens are likely to lose interest. In this way, commentators can prevent reactionary ideologies from public dissemination.

9.    To meet the basic qualifications of an “internet commentator,” one has to continuously learn to improve their writing skills, and learn to grasp several writing styles while mastering the art of imitating others’ writing.

10. Learn to communicate effectively with fellow netizens, earn their trust and blend in with them, especially so for those whose articles are influential online. Get a position as the host to crucial online forums, when possible.

11. Be highly vigilant when hunting for posts to work with. Using your judgment to quickly find the posts, among million others, with high potentials of influence, and focus heavy emphasis on them

12. Pay attention to cultivate the awareness of policies and regulations, and do not misunderstand the current work spirit. Pay attention to understand the superior instructions of the recent posting’s type examples. Be thoroughly acquainted with it and draw inferences.

13. Flexibility and principle combined. Be sure to create an image that is indistinguishable from the real thing, and be someone who is not easily identified. Be familiar with not only our point of view, but also others’ ideas. knowing one’s own and the enemy’s situation

14. Online commentators should always remember their glorious task, not be blocked by difficulties and misunderstandings. Do not care about the reputation on the surface, do not really be angered by the other side under any circumstances. Always keep rational, calm psychology.

15. Online commentators should stand firm, keep a clear mind in the face of all kinds of confusing thoughts, and cherish their political future.

16. Online commentators shall implement the principle of combining group supervision with picket supervision. Their performances shall be assessed by the higher authorities concerned.

Soothing Flowers

After wandering around for many days, busy at giving speeches, receiving interviews to expose the Chinese Communist Party’s evil nature and crimes, I finally returned home today.

IMG_0534.JPG

As soon as I got off the bus, the first sight came into my eyes was this beautiful cherry bloom. Alas! So the spring and the beauty are already here, despite all the ugly news and messages about the coronavirus pandemic we saw and share on the internet every day.

While taking these few photos, I felt so grateful and soothed. I was also awed by the Almighty Creator. No matter what, despite what happened in this sometimes very ugly world, beautiful lives and beautiful things still exist.

I hope, I sincerely hope, after all these craziness and ugliness go away, human souls, and human lives can be as beautiful as these soothing flowers.
