Global Times Chief: China Should Conduct Long-range Strike on Australia

(Jennifer’s note: Hu Xijin, the chief editor of the Chinese Communist Party’s mouthpiece Global Times said in his Weibo Post that China should conduct long-range strike on Australian soil. The following is the full translation of his post on May 7.)

Given that Australian hawks keep hyping or hinting that Australia will assist the US military and participate in war once a military conflict breaks out in the Taiwan Straits, and the Australian media outlets have been actively promoting the sentiment, I suggest China make a plan to impose retaliatory punishment against Australia once it militarily interferes in the cross-Straits situation. The plan should include long-range strikes on the military facilities and relevant key facilities on Australian soil if it really sends its troops to China’s offshore areas and combats against the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). This plan should not only be available, but should also be revealed to the outside world through informal channels to deter extremist forces in Australia from taking irresponsible actions in a desperate manner.

China loves peace and will not take the initiative to pick a fight with faraway Australia, but Australian hawks must be clear-minded that if they are bold enough to co-ordinate with the US to militarily interfere in the Taiwan question and send troops to the Taiwan Straits to wage war with the PLA, they must know what disasters they would cause to their country. China has a strong production capability, including producing additional long-range missiles with conventional warheads that target military objectives in Australia when the situation becomes highly tense

The CCP’s 3 New Warships & Their Messages to the World, Will China Go Back to Mao’s Time?

Hello, everyone, welcome to “Inconvenient Truths”. I am your host Jennifer Zeng.

Today I will talk about two topics, which are tied to the same central theme: The CCP’s expanding military power. What kind of message does Xi Jinping want to send with the 3 newly added  warships?  Will China go back to Mao’s time by promoting the Red Army Spirit and rewriting the CCP’s history?

3 New Warships in One Day

The Chinese regime recently unveiled three new warships to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Navy.

The Chinese regime recently unveiled three new warships to commemorate on April 23, the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Navy.

The ships will be part of the regime’s South China Sea fleet. One Chinese media outlet claims that the move is meant to intimidate Taiwan, neighboring countries in the Indo-Pacific region, and the United States.

The three warships unveiled by Xi Jinping on April 23 are Changzheng-18, a ballistic missile submarine;  Dalian, a destroyer;  and Hainan, an amphibious assault ship.

Xi attended the commissioning ceremony, and personally presented the CCP’s military flag and naming certificates to the captains and political commissars of the new ships.

According to the CCP’s media, the Changzheng-18 is capable of launching a “second-strike,” which means that it can respond to an attacker with powerful nuclear retaliation.

 Dalian, a destroyer.

 Dalian, a destroyer.

Dalian can act as a guardianship to carriers like Liaoning and Shandong, while Hainan would be used to land on enemy territories—a mission similar to the well-known Normandy landings—and act as a command ship during such operations.

Three New Warships Send a Strong Message

The CCP’s media says that unveiling 3 new ships in one day was an unprecedented event. And what is the purpose?

According to CCP’s own military experts, adding three new warships will greatly enhance the CCP Navy’s ability to seize islands, as well as its secondary nuclear counterattack capability.

Meanwhile, this move also contains “significant political signals” that target Taiwan, countries in the South China Sea region, and the United States at the same time. The warships serve as a warning.

The CCP experts said the CCP’s first warning is aimed at Taiwan, and the message is: the Chinese military has the ability to seize the island, and the Dalian and Hainan ships can carry out this combat mission.

The second warning is meant for the neighboring countries in the South China Sea: the CCP has the ability to solve  disputes in the region by force.

The third warning is for the United States: Beijing can use the Changzheng-18 as a “powerful tool to defend the country” when its conventional weapons are not powerful enough, as Changzheng-18 is a nuclear submarine.

On the same day when the three new ships were unveiled, the CCP’s media Legal Daily published an article titled, “Reporting to the Party Flag from the Ocean.” It states that the goal of the CCP’s Navy is to “resolutely listen to the Party’s command, accelerate the transformation and development, build a first-class navy, and be ready for war at any moment.”

Xi Rallies the Troops

After handing over the three warships to the South China Sea fleet, 2 days later, on April 25, Xi Jinping visited the CCP’s Red Army Long March Xiangjiang Battle Memorial Park in Guilin city, Guangxi Province to continue to send his messages.

Xi Jinping delivers his message from the CCP’s Red Army Long March Xiangjiang Battle Memorial Park in Guilin city, Guangxi Province on April 25.

Xi Jinping delivers his message from the CCP’s Red Army Long March Xiangjiang Battle Memorial Park in Guilin city, Guangxi Province on April 25.

Xi declared that the Xiangjiang battle was an “important historical event” that decided the fate of the CCP’s revolution, and called on the people to “persevere in the most difficult times” in order to achieve “miraculous victories.”

He urged the Chinese troops to “think of the Long March of the Red Army and the bloody battle on the Xiangjiang River, even if the difficulties are great.”

The so-called “bloody battle of Xiangjiang” took place between late November and early December in 1934, and it was the first civil war between the CCP and the Kuomintang. The CCP’s Red Army lost nearly 70 percent of its troops. The number of its soldiers dropped from nearly 100,000 to 30,000. The Red Army was besieged by the Kuomintang army and was forced to flee to Southwest China.

The CCP has always claimed that this fleeing process was the “25,000-mile Long March” and called it “Going North to Fight the Japanese.” This is one of the biggest lies the CCP has ever made.

The fact is, the battlefield where the Japanese troops were fought was not in the southwest, but in the northeast of China. And it was the Kuomintang, which is in Taiwan now, that fought the Japanese. The CCP not only didn’t fight the Japanese army, but took advantage of the opportunity when the Kuomintang was fighting the Japanese to expand its territory and its army.

If Japan had not invaded China, the CCP would have been eliminated as an illegal force by the Kuomintang long ago. The Xiangjiang Battle we just mentioned happened 3 years before China’s Anti-Japanese War. The CCP’s Red Army was almost completely wiped out.

Provoking Japan and the US

On April 25, the same day that Xi gave a speech on the Xiangjiang battle, Xinhua published an article, claiming that a fleet of Chinese marine police vessels were cruising in territorial waters of the Diaoyu Islands.

In addition, Xinhua reposted another article titled, “Japanese Media: Chinese Ships Come Too When the U.S. Military Practices Airdrops Around the Diaoyu Islands.”

Citing a report from Japanese media Nikkei, Xinhua said that while the U.S. military conducted drills near the Diaoyu Islands, or Senkaku Islands as it is called in Japan, Chinese maritime police vessels and fighter planes had approached from the sky and sea to provoke.

Xinhua rarely quotes Japanese media’s narrative about the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty, stating that Article 5 of the treaty stipulates that the US is obliged to defend Japan should its territories come under attack, and that the Japanese and U.S. leaders have repeatedly confirmed that the waters of the Diaoyu Islands are also applicable to this provision.

The article also quoted Nikkei as saying that, “If Chinese forces land on the Diaoyu Islands and its affiliated islands, the U.S. forces will join the Self-Defense Forces [of Japan] in a counterattack to seize the islands.”

I have to say that it was very unusual for the CCP’s media to directly quote a Japanese newspaper and openly talk about the Japan-U.S. Security Treaty, especially at a very sensitive time when the situation in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea is heating up. So we can view this as the CCP openly provoking the U.S.-Japan alliance to demonstrate the CCP’s ambition to gain global domination.

The CCP has already begun its full-scale military expansion. Not only did it provoke Taiwan and other countries in the South China Sea and the East China Sea, but it also called out the United States.

Stirring up Nationalistic Sentiment

The CCP is also stirring up nationalistic sentiment at home, encouraging people to worship the CCP’s so-called “revolution” and its Red Army  that “liberated” China. Let’s see a few pictures together.

You can see in this picture a group of women dressed in Red Army’s uniform, with a man with a mic standing in the middle, apparently doing some sort of TV show.

19.jpeg

This one is little children dressing like Red Army soldiers and reading the CCP’s red books.

20.jpeg

This one is wives of the CCP leaders in Jiangxi Province taking a tour to a “revolutionary well”, and drinking some “sacred water” from the well. The stone tablet next to the well reads: “Never forget the well digger when we drink the water in it. We miss Chairman Mao all the time.”

21.jpeg

This one is little children dressing like the Red Guards during the Cultural Revolution.

22.jpeg

This one is the group photo of teachers and cadres of China’s best Fine Arts university, the Central Academy of Fine Arts. It was taken after they finished training to learn the CCP’s revolutionary theories at the CCP’s education base at Jinggangshan in Jiangxi Province. Jinggangshan is called “Revolutionary Holy Land” by the CCP, as it was once the base of the CCP’s Red Army.

23.jpeg

Now let’s watch a video. It was shot on May 6, in Nanyang City, Henan province. The local Culture and Tourism Bureau planned and organized the so-called “the Long March of Red Army Experience Tour”, in which people wear Red Army uniforms, sing Red songs and simulate Red Army battles.  I think we call this kind of thing “Cosplay” in the West, right? While cosplay in the West is usually for fun, the CCP’s “cosplay” is a serious political matter.

The song in this video is very famous in China, it is called “Without the Communist Party, there would be no New China.” Everybody must be very grateful to the CCP.

This one is also a “Cosplay”. Women dressed in Red Army uniforms escort an old woman who must be a “counter-revolutionary” bad person, to have her condemned, or even maybe executed, as that is what the CCP did before and after they took power in China.

Rewriting the Party History

Another very worrisome matter is that the CCP is rewriting its history again.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CCP. To commemorate this, the CCP released a new version of the party’s history in February.

The CCP’s new history book.

The CCP’s new history book.

This new history book of the CCP has 10 chapters and about 280K words, a quarter of it is about Xi Jinping’s achievements. It downplays, or even deletes the mistakes made by Mao Zedong during and before the Cultural Revolution, and unlike older versions, there is even no chapter about the Cultural Revolution at all. This period of history has been combined with other periods, and unlike before, the CCP no longer refers to the Cultural Revolution as “10 Years of Civil Unrest”, or “10 Years of Devastation”.

Instead, it is now combined with all other periods, and vaguely referred to as a period in which the CCP was painstakingly trying to find out a correct way to go for China.

So now, everything looks perfect. No more mistakes, not even past mistakes for the CCP.

Is China going back to Mao’s time? Looks like so. That’s why many overseas Chinese people feel very worried.

We should all feel worried. An increasingly left-leaning and power-hungry CCP with a stronger military and deeper pockets must never be left unchecked. People have to understand the evil nature of the CCP and not let history repeat itself.

Please share this message with people you know and subscribe to my channel if you haven’t. Please also like my video and leave us some comments. That’s all for today’s Inconvenient Truths. Thank you so much for watching. See you soon!

China May Face Sharp Population Decline & Why Does the CCP Shamelessly Mock India?

Hello, everyone, welcome to “Inconvenient Truths”. I am your host Jennifer Zeng.

Today I will talk about two topics: The sharp population decline in China, and why the CCP chose to mock India’s huge suffering due to the surge of COVID-19, or CCP virus pandemic. I will tell a shocking, and exclusive story I heard when I was a child in China, which I never shared before. And I am sure you will be shocked too. So make sure you stick around till the end.

Before we go on, please take some time to subscribe to my channel, turn on the notification bell, share and like my video if you haven’t. YouTube is still suppressing me very inconspicuously. A few days ago I received feedback from 3 different viewers in one day, all telling me that they got unsubscribed without their knowledge. Some said they saw the views dropping instead of increasing several hours later when he watched again. Some said they couldn’t like my video, etc. So I do need your help to survive all of this.

Now, let’s move to our first topic today.

 The extended delay

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has again delayed the release of the 2020 census results. Experts suggest that China is already experiencing negative population growth. An expert speculates that, in addition to natural factors, the sharp decline in population may be linked to the pandemic, and that the CCP needs time to massage the real figures.

Now, let’s check some of the details with this.

The seventh population census of China was completed in early December 2020. In March, China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said that the census results would be released in early April.

However, on April 16, the NBS announced that in order to provide more details, more preparation was needed. It said, “We will accelerate our work to the next step, and we strive to release the final results of the census as soon as possible.”

On April 29, the NBS published a one-sentence report, saying that, “In 2020, China’s population continues to grow, and specific data will be published in the 7th National Census Bulletin.”

Up to now, the “specific data” has yet to be released.

Demographer: China’s Population Less Than 1.28 Billion

As early as Nov. 16, 2020, a well-known demographer and author Yi Fuxian said in a tweet that he projected the actual population of China in 2020 to be about 1.26 billion, and isn’t likely to exceed 1.28 billion, and is even less likely to reach the officially announced 1.4 billion in 2019.

Yi Fuxian is the author of the book “Big Country with an Empty Nest.” He said that “China’s policies are all based on faulty demographic data. After [China] enjoyed the status as the world’s most populous country for thousands of years, that title was taken by India a few years ago.”

By the end of 2016, India’s population had reached 1.326 billion, or 18 percent of the world’s total population.

Sharp Decline in Newborns

A report released on April 29 cites data from the Ministry of Public Security of the CCP, which indicates that only 10 million newborns were registered in China in 2020, a significant drop of about 15 percent from 2019.

Let’s see a charter first. The blue line is the actual number of newborns in each year, the yellow line is the projected numbers for the coming years. You can see that after reaching the peak in 1964, China’s newborns basically kept dropping, and the decline accelerated after 2018.

China’s new births in different years. Unit: 10K.

China’s new births in different years. Unit: 10K.

In 2019, the number of newborns registered by the Ministry of Public Security was 80.5 percent of the birth number recorded by the Bureau of Statistics. If the same ratio is used to calculate the birth number of 2020, that will result in a decline of over 2 million births in 2020 compared to 2019.

China’s NBS announced on Jan. 17 that China’s total population was 1.4 billion at the end of 2019, an increase of 4.7 million from the end of the previous year.

However, another report published by Soochow Securities chief economist Ren Zeping on April 29 uses such a title:  “China Population Report: Births in Many Places Fall by 10–30 Percent.”  It states that China is unlikely to reach the 1.4 billion population goal in 2020 as projected in the National Population Development Plan (2016–2030).

Ren Zeping further suggests that data from the Information and Statistics Center of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission show that the number of registered household births in Beijing in 2020 was only 100,000—24.3 percent less than in 2019.

Beijing Think Tank: Drop in Births Recorded in Many Cities

Although the CCP has not released the national figures, many cities have released their own data.

Let’s see this table. It doesn’t matter if you can’t read Chinese, just look at the numbers in the right column. They represent how much the new births have dropped in 2020 from 2019.

New births decline in many cities in China.

New births decline in many cities in China.

So you can see that the number of births dropped by 19 percent in Wenzhou city, 23% in Hefei city , 32.6% in Taizhou city , 21.17% in Pinghu city, 19.24% in Ningbo city, 25.8% in Weifang city, 16.88% in Huangshan city, and 31.6% in Guiyang city.

A Beijing based think tank, Center for China & Globalization (CCG) said this in its report: “there is no doubt that the number of births in China in 2020 was significantly lower than in 2019,” and “given that the number of women of childbearing age in China will continue to decline and that fertility intentions are likely to remain low, we can say that although the number of births in 2020 will be the lowest in recent decades, it is likely to be the highest in the next few decades.”

The CCG called for a change in the fertility policy to fully liberalize and encourage autonomous fertility.

China’s Central Bank Signals to Fully Lift Restrictions on Birth Control

On April 14, China’s Central Bank published a paper called “Understanding and Responses to Demographic Transition.” The paper reveals that when compared to developed countries, China’s population is aging more rapidly and families are having fewer children.

The paper states that China’s demographic situation has changed, and it’s difficult to compensate for the population decline with education and technological advances, so the government should not impose any more birth control and people should be encouraged to have children.

In another report of Ren Zeping, he states that the aging population and fewer children are the biggest dangers that are being ignored in China. He recommends an immediate and full lifting of restrictions on birth control to encourage childbirth.

Ren also said that both quantity and quality of population affects the power of the nation. People are not only consumers, but also critical manpower. A large population creates a large market on the demand side and provides sufficient labor and more talent on the supply side. Therefore, a large population is a national advantage, not a disadvantage.

He said a significant reduction in population would lead to the shrinkage or even extinction of a large number of cities and the disappearance of a large number of industries, which would seriously damage the national power.

Delay of Data Release May be Related to Pandemic Death Tolls

The extended delay in the release of census data has caused concerns.

China expert Li Yanming  told The Epoch Times in an interview that “This matter does look strange. On the one hand, the NBS claims that the population continues to grow, but on the other hand, the Central Bank advocates for full lifting of restrictions on birth control. Also, the CCP authorities have not blocked the reports about the declining birth numbers in 2020 released by leading economists and think tanks.”

Li said that all these factors indicate that the census data will certainly not be good.

He believes that while the decline in births in 2020 may be one reason for the decline in the total population, the bigger reason may be the high number of deaths in the 2020 pandemic.

He said that “It is hard to estimate how many people have died last year because of COVID-19.”

Let’s look at a table released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on March 19 last year. Watch the second row in the red circle. It shows that the number of cell phone subscribers of China’s three major telecom operators including China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom dropped by 21 million in the first two months of 2020.

Three major telecom operators including China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom lost 21 million subscribers in the first two months of 2020.

Three major telecom operators including China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom lost 21 million subscribers in the first two months of 2020.

The first two months of 2020 was also the time when the pandemic was at its peak in Wuhan, with both hospitals and crematoriums overwhelmed.

Fang Fang, a Chinese writer in Wuhan who documented what happened during the lockdown in her Wuhan Diary, wrote on February 13, 2020, “What breaks my heart is a picture that my doctor friend sent me…On the picture, cell phones are all over the ground of the funeral home. Their owners have been turned into ashes.”

Of course we cannot say that the number of lost cell phone subscribers represents the actual death toll, as many people might have chosen to cancel their extra SIM cards during the pandemic.

However, 21 million is too large of a number for mere cancelations. People do believe that a large percent of that number came from people who died from the CCP virus.

The Reason Behind the Population Decline and a True Story

I don’t think anyone will feel too surprised hearing about a sharp decline in China’s population. The CCP’s “One Family, One Child” policy had been in place for decades. It was once called a “Basic National Strategy”, and it was a criminal offense if you dared to have more than one child. You could be put into prison. People were forced to do abortions.

It was estimated that more than 400 million unborn babies were killed by the CCP’s “One Family, One Child” policy.

How strictly had this policy been carried out? Let me share with you two true stories I personally knew.

In the 1990s, once when I went to a remote village in Henan Province in China, I met a boy whose name was Fanqiang, which literally means “Jumping Over the Wall”.  I asked why he was given such a strange name, they told me that when his mother was pregnant with him,  the CCP officials went to her home to catch her, as she already had a child, so she wasn’t allowed to have a second one.

She escaped by jumping over the wall, and saved this boy. So later she gave him the name Fanqiang, as that was how he was able to come to this world instead of being killed.

So that was the first story. Now the second one.

When I was only 9 or 10 years old, I heard a more terrible story from my aunt, who worked in a hospital in Jiangyou City, Sichuan Province in China.

She said, their hospital gave a pregnant woman an induction of labor. This woman didn’t have permission to have that child, so the child needed to be induced.

Let me explain a little bit of what “induction of labor” means here. When the unborn baby is small, they call it an abortion. When the unborn baby is bigger, maybe more than 7 months, they call it an induction of labor. Usually the baby is killed during the process of the so-called “induction of labor,” and are dead when they get out of their mother’s wombs.

But this time, in my aunt’s hospital,  a baby boy was still alive when he got out.  What could the hospital do? The child had no place in the world as he didn’t have a birth permission.

So a nurse put him in a tray and took him to a place in the hospital where they disposed of discarded medical materials to throw him away. But when she tried to dump him out of the tray, the boy’s little fingers held tightly to the edge of the tray and refused to let go. The nurse had to break his fingers one by one before she could dump him into the garbage…

Too terrifying? That is a true story I heard as a little girl of 9 or 10 years old from my own aunt.

What’s more terrifying was when my aunt told the story, she told it as some little, harmless, everyday gossip at the dinner table you tell to entertain your guests. She told it with a smiling face, as if it was a very interesting story.

It WAS interesting in the sense that it was very unusual. Maybe that kind thing only happened once out of thousands of similar labor induction operations they performed. So she chose to tell it as it was novel.

So in CCP’s China, human life is nothing. That’s why the CCP feels it is perfectly alright for it to decide how many children a family is allowed to have, as everybody is only a number, or a slave.

If you are not inside the CCP’s plan, killing you, or getting rid of you is nothing. They won’t feel any mental burden for doing it. That’s why that nurse in the hospital could kill a baby without any hesitation, and that’s why my aunt could tell that story without feeling anything wrong about it.

 Mocking India’s Suffering

In the past several days, I have translated a few posts by the CCP’s Central Political and Legal Affairs Committee and police. These posts compare CCP’s “big achievements” with India’s huge sufferings.

Let’s see the first one.

It is from the official social media account called Weibo of the CCP’s Central Political and Legal Affairs Committee.

It puts a picture of China launching a rocket and a picture of India burning bodies together with two simple lines: “China ignites  [ɪɡˈnaɪt]  VS India ignites, ” and then “#More than 400K new cases confirmed in India in a single day.”

15.png

You can see it received 4654 comments in 5 hours. The top one says, “China: sending people to space, India: sending people to heaven.”

This one is also from the  CCP’s Central Political and Legal Affairs Committee.  It puts a picture of Wuhan’s Houshensan Hospital under construction and India’s crematorium together, also with two simple lines: “China’s Houshensan” and “India’s Houshensan”, and then “#Delhi, India is using dog crematorium for humans.”

16.png

“Houshensan” in Chinese literally means “Mount Fire God”, or “Mountain of the God of Fire”.  During the peak of the CCP virus pandemic last year, the CCP built a special hospital at Houshensan near Wuhan in 10 days, and still regards it as a big achievement.

This one is from the CCP police in Hainan province. It puts a picture of China launching a rocket and India burning bodies together, with some poetic description, which says, “The future of the people should not be turned into ashes under the flames. Every burning of mankind should be for the sake of the more distant stars. Good night…”

17.png

These posts have caused so much anger and backlash from all over the world that the CCP had to take them down later.

When I first translated and posted about these posts,  I said, “I’ve never [seen] such disgusting comparison.” I was so angry that I didn’t notice that I had missed the word “seen” in that tweet.

18.png

However, after some second thought, I kind of understood why the CCP made such unforgivable mistakes. Just like my aunt who told the story of that baby boy being dumped while still alive with a smiling face, the CCP didn’t know how low, how disgusting, and how unacceptable such comparisons were.

It was too eager to boast its own achievements in rocket science and in controlling the pandemic, and it didn’t realize how those posts would hurt others. It has no idea of how normal human beings should think and behave. And it never cares about other people’s lives and feelings anyway.

That’s why it shamelessly exposes to the world how ugly it is again and again. It doesn’t know what “shame” is.

Well, that’s all for today’s Inconvenient Truths. Thank you very much for watching. Once again, please subscribe to my channel, turn on the notification bell, like and share my videos, and leave us your comments to support.

My Primary School Graduation Photo

One thing that impressed me a lot about the elementary school was that the classrooms were very dilapidated, the glass on the windows were all broken and completely gone, and the windows were only barely nailed with some wooden strips to prevent people from climbing in through the windows.

In winter, the cold wind blew in from all sides and everyone was so cold that they craned their necks, many of them had frostbite on their hands and feet, and the backs of their hands were as red as little buns.

Everyone was forced to join the Young Pioneers, wear a red scarf, read Mao’s books, collect fertilizer and accumulate manure to support the farmers.

Three Things the CCP Wants From Tesla

Hello, everyone, welcome to “Inconvenient Truths”. I am your host Jennifer Zeng.

A while ago I did a program about Tesla being banned from China’s military buildings. Recently Tesla once again became a very, very hot topic in China, especially on social media platforms. What has happened, why did these things happen, and what are their significance? Today let’s discuss these very interesting issues.

A Drama At the International Auto Show in Shanghai

First of all, let’s watch a video together.

This video was shot on April 19, at the media preview of the international auto show in Shanghai. You can see this woman jumping on top of a Tesla Model 3. She screams loudly, “Tesla Brakes Failed!” The T-shirt she wears also has the Chinese words saying “Brake Failure”.

Another woman dressed in the same T-shirt also shouts “Tesla Brakes Failed!” This shows that this was an organized, pre-arranged “protest”.

This is a shot from another angle. This is a shot from outside the exhibition hall. This is the shot of that woman being taken away by the security guards.

It was then reported that this woman claimed that because of a Tesla car’s brake failure, 4 members of her family nearly died when their car crashed into the car in front of them in Henan province in February this year, but Tesla refused to take responsibility. So she went to the Shanghai Auto Show to “defend her rights’ ‘.

Right after the episode at the auto show, on the following day,  CCP’s biggest mouthpiece Xinhua published an article entitled, “Who Gives Tesla the Confidence to Maintain Its ‘No Compromise’ Stance?” The article criticized Tesla for being “arrogant.”

CCP’s other most important mouthpiece People’s Daily also published an article on April 22, saying that “There are no products that cannot be replaced”. The article also says that, “People can only see the arrogance of Tesla, but not its sincerity to solve the problem, or respect for its consumers.”

What’s more ridiculous is that even the CCP’s Central Political and Legal Affairs Committee also got involved into this public opinion war against Tesla, and also published an article on April 20, saying that Tesla must comply with China’s laws and regulations if it wants to do business in China, and that Chinese consumers’ trust cannot be exchanged for arrogance, and Tesla should not knowingly ignore the hidden safety problems, etc.

People were very surprised by this article, because the Political and Legal Affairs Committee usually only deals with political and legal affairs, and it is best known for its persecution of Falun Gong and other innocent people. Why did it suddenly get itself involved in an affair between a manufacturer and its customer?

 More Boycott

And this affair didn’t stop at the verbal level only. Instead, it soon expanded to the real world.

Let’s watch another two short clips.

This clip shows that Tesla cars were stopped and not allowed to enter the highway somewhere in Guangzhou City. The man says, “Alas, another Tesla car got caught. ”

 Now let’s play another video.

Judging from the accent of the video, it should be in Henan province. So Tesla cars are not allowed to park there.

Now let’s play the next video.

The sign in this video we just saw says, “Military Area. Tesla cars Are Forbidden.”

Court Ruling: “Refunding one, Compensating for Three”

Apart from these, Tesla may soon face new trouble, which is a compensation court ruling.

On Dec. 4, 2020, in Tianjin city, a Tesla owner named Han Chao received a court verdict for his compensation claim against Tesla. The verdict stated that Tesla had committed fraud and should return 379,700 yuan (about $59,000) to Han for the purchase price and to pay him 1,139,100 yuan (about $176,000) in damages.

The amount of compensation for damages is three times the purchase price—in China, this verdict is therefore called “refunding one, compensating for three.”

Tesla appealed the ruling and a verdict will be announced by May 3.

But Tesla told a different story in a statement published on its official Weibo account on April 28.

The statement says, the original owner of Han’s car had been involved in a minor accident in early 2019 and commissioned third-party repairs. Various documents from the accident claim could confirm that the accident only injured the left rear fender, the edge of the rear bumper and the surface of the wheels, but did not involve the safety structure of the vehicle. The repair of the fender would not cause a safety hazard to the vehicle.

Tesla says in the statement, ”We appreciate the regret caused by Mr. Han’s dissatisfaction after purchasing the car, but believe that this does not constitute fraud.”

The statement also says that during the repair service of Han’s vehicle, Tesla provided another car to Han, but he refused to return that car after his vehicle was repaired and refused to pick it up. The alternative car was not returned until after it was involved in an accident. After that Han requested to have a third car, which was provided to him while the negotiation between him and Tesla continued, under the condition that he should return it in one month. However, he refused to return that car after the expiration date and is still using it to this day.

When I read Tesla’s statement, I tend to believe in Tesla instead of Han Chao, or the CCP’s court. I actually felt sympathy towards Tesla for having to deal with this kind of person.

Three Things the CCP Wants

Now, let’s talk about what’s behind all the drama on the surface.

First of all, we need to understand that in CCP’s China, everything is under tight control, especially what can be a hot topic in the media, and social media platforms. It is hard to imagine that some simple disputes between a car manufacturer and its customers can become so hot in the media. The fact that the CCP’s most important mouthpieces Xinhua and People’s Daily, as well as its Central Political and Legal Affairs Committee all got involved and directly criticized Tesla indicated that the CCP is behind all of this drama.

So, what does the CCP want from Tesla?

Anti-American Sentiment

No. 1: Anti-American sentiment.

Let’s see a table before we go on. What you are seeing are the figures released by China’s Passenger Car Association in October last year, about the complaint to sales ratio of all the best selling passenger cars in China in the third quarter of last year. You can see that Tesla’s Model 3 is on the top, it received only 0.3 complaints out of every 10 thousand sales.

The complaint to sales ratio of all the best selling passenger cars in China in the third quarter of 2020. Source: China’s Passenger Car Association.

On the bottom of the table is the average complaint figure of all the best selling passenger cars. It is 33.5 per 10 thousand sales.

That is to say, the average complaints are more than 100 times higher than that of Tesla’s. Or  maybe we can also say that customers are more than 100 times happier with a Tesla car.

So, quality is definitely not the issue. Nor is the issue about protecting the interests of consumers, as we’ve seen other cases in which consumers’ interests were never considered. For example, hundreds of thousands of children became victims of the poisonous milk powders produced in China, some even died, but the CCP never cared.

Therefore, this wave of bombardment of Tesla is purely a political operation with very obvious concerted actions. The CCP used a very skilled technique to incite public disgust at Tesla’s “bullying”, and then converted the disgust toward Tesla into disgust and hatred for the United States, as Tesla is a US company.

Let’s see Xinhua’s article again. “Who Gives Tesla the Confidence to Maintain Its ‘No Compromise’ Stance?” As Chinese readers have long since been instilled such a view that  “the U.S. Imperial is the source of all evil”, when they see such a title, they will easily come to the conclusion that Tesla is so arrogant because it thinks it is an American company and the dark force of the U.S. Imperial is behind Tesla.

We’ve already seen the CCP’s aggressive Wolf Warrior Diplomacy all over the world recently. So to have the general public in China maintain a similar stance about the US is nothing strange.

So that is the No. 1 purpose the CCP wants to achieve.

The Market

The No. 2 goal is the market.

Xi Jinping announced as early as in 2014 that the development of new energy vehicles was “the only way to go” for China to become a strong country in automobile manufacturing. With many countries taking the climate change agenda as a priority, new energy vehicles are definitely a huge global market.

China has already put itself in a very good position with solar panels, wind power generation, etc, it definitely would want to dominate the new energy vehicle market too.

And you know what? After the CCP backed company Huawei being sanctioned by the US for safety concerns, it has dropped off the list of top cell phone makers in the world. Its first quarter revenue slipped 16.9% this year. A while ago it also announced that it would get itself involved in the smart pig farming business.

And, on the same day when that woman jumped on top of a Tesla car to make a scene, Huawei also appeared at the auto show for the first time as a new energy vehicle maker!

Let’s watch a short clip first.

OK, this video was shot at the Huawei booth, showing that the chandelier structure collapsed. Huawei had to make an urgent repair after this incident. It seems to not be a good start for Huawei as a car maker.

Anyway, we must say that Huawei acted very fast to embark on this new route of making electric cars. As a telecommunication company, during the process of rolling out its 5G programs, it has already accumulated technology with the Internet of Vehicles, Internet of Things. So it already has the foundation to make smart cars.

Also, it didn’t try to do everything from scratch. Instead, it chose to work with car makers that are already in this area. It is now working with three different car makers including BAIC Motor in Beijing, Changan Auto in Chongqing, and GAC Group in Guangzhou.

It has launched the ARCFox S model with BAIC Motor .This model was also in the Shanghai auto show, with a price range from 250K-344K yuan, or $38K-$53K. This price range is very close to Tesla’s price in China. Many other brands have set a much lower price.

So from this we can see that Huawei has set Tesla as its main market competitor by entering the same price range.

We all know what a big fuss the CCP has made after Canada arrested Huawei’s CFO Meng Wanzhou under the request from the US. The CCP has even sentenced 4 Canadians to death after Meng Wanzhou was arrested.

From this, it is not hard to imagine at all if Huawei, and other CCP owned companies want to enter the same market, what the CCP is willing to do to drive the outsiders out.

And there is an important fact to mention here too. April 19, the day when that woman made a scene at the Shanghai auto show, was the date for a media preview. Only people who work for the media could get a pass to get in. So how did that woman make her way there?

It turned out that she actually got a media pass from Webasto, a sunroof supplier of NIO, one of the main Chinese electric car makers.

It was also revealed that when the woman arrived at Shanghai from Henan province, she didn’t take a taxi. Instead, she was picked up by a NIO car.

This was not a rumor spread by others. Instead, it was found out from a video posted by the woman herself. She posted a video onto her TikTok account just to show that she had arrived Shanghai to “defend her rights”. But netizens soon found out that the car she was riding belonged to NIO. She quickly deleted that video.

So now you get the story? Her so-called “protest” had the backing not only from the CCP’s most important mouthpieces, powerful government departments such as the notorious Political and Legal Affairs Committee, but also from Tesla’s main competitor, or competitors.

The Data

What is the third thing that the CCP wants from Tesla? It is the data.

We all know how important data is in such a digital world and a digital era we are living in, especially for totalitarian regimes that want to control its people.

So far Tesla has not set up a data center in China, or stores the data of its Chinese customers in China.

We all know that Apple has set up an iCloud center in Guizhou, China, and all the data of Chinese iPhone users, and perhaps users in other countries but who choose to use its simplified Chinese language operation system, is stored in the iCloud in China. And Apple’s iCloud service is run by a company owned by the government of Guizhou province. That means the CCP can have access to all the data any time it wants.

Some people also say that the CCP also wants core technology from Tesla, and might not be happy with Tesla because of its StarLink project, as the project offers satellite Internet access worldwide, and has the potential to reduce the CCP’s Great Fire Wall to nothing. I am not too sure about this one, but think it’s worthwhile to mention it here.

OK, that’s all for today’s Inconvenient Truths. Tesla ran against the tide by entering China in 2018 when the trade war between China and the US had just started, and when many other companies were moving their factories out of China. Is Tesla’s decision to enter China a wise one, or a wrong one? I do like to hear what you have to say. Please leave us a comment to share with us your thoughts.

Please also subscribe to my channel if you haven’t, and share my videos with your family and friends.

Thank you. See you soon!

“You Are Such Fantastic Human Being” “你有一個如此美麗的靈魂”

(Bruno Misonski)

(Jennifer’s note: This is an email sent to me by Bruno Misonski, author of From Midnight to Moonlight. )

So, a while ago I finished your book.

You are such fantastic human being and a beautiful soul. And so incredibly courageous!

Fortunately your story ends well. I was shocked by your book: torture is a horrible thing but I had never read a book about women being tortured, and I found it even more disgusting. How can people be so evil?

However, LOVE will always win.

Have a beautiful day and greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪
