The Savvy Traveler公司CEO Dolly Shukla:

PLA General: Hong Kong Is Worst, Worse than Taiwan

(Jennifer’s note: This is a speech of Xu Yan, a CCP general and professor of the Defense University of the People’s Liberation Army at the conference in Chengdu City, China on November 5, 2018. Nearly 2000 educators and primary and middle school students  attended the conference. English translation of his speech is below the video)

Xinjiang and Tibet are the weaknesses of China. Furthermore, there was an “Umbrella Revolution” which sought independence for Hong Kong. The international anti-China forces want to turn Hong Kong into a bridgehead to oppose the Communist Party.

The young people are creating chaos, and the key reason is their parents are bad. Education is another problem.

When we took back Hong Kong in 1997, I had participated, together with leaders of the People’s Liberation Army Hong Kong garrison, in the study of Hong Kong’s social conditions.

Hong Kong’s social foundation, to tell you the truth based on the facts, is the worst in China, even worse than Taiwan.

In his book “The Analysis of Various Classes in Chinese Society,” Chairman Mao said, when you analyze the situation of a place, you should first analyze its class composition and social status.

In Taiwan, there are not that many people who really oppose the Communist Party. 80 percent of the original Taiwanese are indifferent to the Communist Party. The other 20 percent who went there had been captured by the Kuomintang [the nationalist party defeated by the Chinese Communist Party] and later became soldiers.

Hong Kong is different. When we took over Hong Kong in 1997 and analyzed the composition of its residents, [we found] that there were three thirds. One-third [of the residents] were the native born and their descendants, educated within the British Hong Kong system. These people are somewhat arrogant. However, they don’t hate mainland China that much.

One-third of them are the worst. They ran to Hong Kong [from China] during 1949 and 1950 after being purged, stricken, driven out, and deprived of everything by the Communist Party. Many of these people hate the Communist Party with every fiber of their beings.

Another one-third suffered starvation during the Three Years of Difficulties (the Great Chinese Famine from 1959 to 1961). Those people smuggled themselves to Hong Kong as asylum seekers during the Cultural Revolution. How can you expect this kind of people to have good thoughts about the Communist Party?

To sum up, after we took back Hong Kong, we made a big mistake. [That was, we promised that] nothing would be changed. How would that do if you don’t decolonize everything?

After more than 20 years since we took back Hong Kong, they are still using textbooks of the British Dependent Territories. Furthermore, when we wanted to change the textbooks, the parents didn’t allow it. So why are the students, the young people, bad? Because their parents are bad. They didn’t allow us to change the textbooks. For more than 20 years, hey are still using textbooks of the British Dependent Territories.

So why are these young students creating chaos? Because their education is really bad. The education system has problems.

I think it is now the time for us to act. A big lesson for us in the past, is that we emphasized too much “two systems” [the policy governing Hong Kong is “one country/two systems”]. We didn’t emphasize “one country.”

Last year, after our new Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, took office, I think she did two things very well.

First, those who participated in “Occupy Central” [a civil disobedience campaign aimed at reforming the electoral system in Hong Kong] and created chaos were sentenced.

Second, starting from this year, they have been changing the textbooks. You should use textbooks for Chinese citizens. How can you use textbooks for citizens of the British Dependent Territories?

We need to educate these people. You are all educators here. You all understand this. If you want to educate these people, you cannot achieve your goal in one or two years. Education is a long-term issue

High Ranking Mainland China Expert Goes to Hong Kong to Observe the Protests

BY JENNIFER ZENG

June 11, 2019 Updated: June 11, 2019

After the Chinese Communist regime blocked news reports about the June 9 protest of an extradition bill that occurred in Hong Kong, a retired professor of the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China has anxiously returned to Hong Kong to observe the situation. He said he hopes that the Hong Kong people’s opposition to mainland China encroaching on their autonomy can trigger the collapse of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

The octogenarian professor, who prefers to be called by the alias Mr. Chen, told the Hong Kong edition of The Epoch Times that he did social and law studies for over 60 years, and was a consultant to the CCP regarding the construction of legal institutions. At one time his correspondence directly reached the CCP headquarters at Zhongnanhai.

Chen’s interest was piqued when prior to the 30th anniversary of the June 4th Tiananmen Massacre, the CCP tightened its control over the internet so the Chinese people couldn’t read about related activities in other countries. Many Weibo and WeChat accounts were blocked. He wasn’t able to get any news about developments in Hong Kong, so he decided to go and see what was happening for himself.

“Recently the internet blockade has been very tight, unprecedentedly severe. Anything related to June 4th is blocked. Mainland Chinese know nothing about the outside world’s reports about Xi Jinping, politics, or Hong Kong. Everything is blocked, including NTD TV programs. People in China know nothing whatsoever,” Chen said.

In Hong Kong, Chen witnessed the massive vigil in Victoria Parkcommemorating the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. Over 180,000 people attended the event.

He said that what he saw was very powerful and soul stirring, and he immediately relayed what he had seen and heard to his friends in China. He said that they were very excited, and started watching closely the development of the situation in Hong Kong.

Because of the stay limit of his travel document, Chen had to return to China before June 9, and therefore regretfully missed the grand protest that occurred that day.

Before the June 9 protest, when Chen told his friends that he estimated that there could be as many as 1 million people participating in the parade, no one believed him.

The facts prove that he was correct. Chen said this shows that people in Hong Kong are not afraid of the CCP, which will greatly encourage people in Mainland China.

He said, “I read all the newspapers in Mainland China. Not one word about the protest in Hong Kong was ever mentioned. Everything is tightly blocked. You can see nothing at all.”

However, he managed to revisit Hong Kong and will stay for a few days to see what happens.

Chen explained that many people in China are also eagerly watching Hong Kong’s situation. They believe this could be the time to trigger the disintegration of the CCP.

He said: “This is the time when people in China should take a stance. As intellectuals who support universal values, it’s time for us to shoulder responsibilities. Even if it means you need to sacrifice your life, you need to stand up and speak out now. Otherwise you are not worthy of being called an expert. You are not even worthy of being a Chinese person or a human being of the world.”

He thinks that many people in China are waiting in earnest for the CCP to fall. “We know they [the regime] are afraid. We know they are weak.”

Chen said the CCP is encountering all sorts of problems now. “One of its crisis is that it has lost the support of the people. It does not respect the rule of law. Instead, it uses laws to suppress people. Its violation of human rights has gone so far that it is beyond tolerance.”

Chen said he has collected evidence of the crimes of a large number of CCP officials and is prepared to submit them to the United Nations when the time is right.

This is Also “Chinese Characteristics”

Today I saw a new follower on my Twitter account. In her “profile” column, she puts such descriptions: “I was questioned [by police] for jumping over the Great Firewall. I had to write a guarantee statement. My [Twitter] account was delete. How resentful! What could I do? Had to “reincarnate” [by creating this new account]!”

People in the free world can hardly imagine what lies behind these few lines. How many horrible things have happened to her? How much had she suffered during this process? And how strong is her desires to get to the free world, even if it is just in the virtual world?

Well, we can say this is also something with “”Chinese characteristics”. And shame on Twitter to block people like this, who have suffered and sacrificed so much just for owning a Twitter account!

I hope all this will become history soon, and all people in China can also enjoy freedom like us.

Through eons of adversity
Coming here to seek the Way 一朵淨蓮出塵開
A lotus pure
Transcending this mortal world 清風浩蕩吹我懷
Into full blossom.

Fulfilling your mission
