Chamath Palihapitiya

Previous parts

How the Data Explains 5 Million Missing Cellphone Users in China

Hello, everyone, welcome to “Inconvenient Truths”. I am your host Jennifer Zeng.

If you have followed me on Twitter or Facebook, you might have read the news I broke last March: The number of Chinese cellphone users dropped by 21 million in the first three months of 2020.  Since then people have been asking: What does that number mean? Does it represent the real death toll in China, or does it mean nothing more than people canceling their extra SIM cards due to bad financial situations?

1.png2.png3.png

Well, the Chinese edition of The Epoch Times (insert picture 4) did some follow up research on this matter and came to the conclusion that in 2020, altogether over 5 million cell phone users disappeared in China. Today, let me tell everyone how they obtained that number, and what lies behind it.

5.57 Million Net Loss in 2020

First of all, let’s check the numbers of three major cell phone carriers in China.

According to the figures from China mobile, it had 941.918 million mobile subscribers at the end of 2020; which is a net decrease of 8.359 million for the year. China Unicom had 305.8 million mobile subscribers at the end of 2020, which is a net decrease of 12.664 million for the year. Only China Telecom saw a net increase of 15.45 million mobile subscribers for the year, with total subscribers of 351.02 million at the end of 2020.

5.png6.png7.png

So, put all these numbers together, we know that in 2020, there are about 1.599 billion cell phone subscribers across China, which is a decrease of 5.57 million from 2019.

These numbers contradict the statement made by the CCP in March last year. At that time, when the news broke out that Chinese cellphone users dropped by 21 million in the first three months of 2020, Han Xia, the CCP’s Director of the Information and Communication Administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology once explained that the reduced number was caused by bad financial situations, and that many people had canceled their extra SIM cards during the pandemic.

He also claimed that “We believe that with the gradual recovery of economic and social activities, the number of mobile users may also grow in the future.”

But the reality is, according to the numbers announced by the three major carriers, China’s mobile phone users decreased by 5.57 million from 2019.

Reasons behind the Net Loss

Now, let’s try to explore the reasons behind the net loss of mobile phone users.

  1. Economy

We can say there are many factors that can affect the number of mobile phone users. But overall, the most important ones are the economy and the population.

According to the GDP data released by the CCP in January this year, after a 6.8% year-on-year decline in the first quarter, China’s economy has gradually recovered since the second quarter, and has grown by 6.5% in the fourth quarter and 2.3% year-on-year for the whole of last year.

So, this is to say, that according to the CCP, the economy has not only recovered from the impact of the pandemic, but has also grown.

So, with the recovery of economic activity, the negative impact of the pandemic on the number of cell phone users should have been minimized, or even to the point that it could have been ignored, by the end of last year.

2. A Nationwide “Health-Code” Installed on Smartphones

In addition, in order to implement a nationwide surveillance system, the CCP has been forcing all cities to adopt a so-called “health-code” system.  This “health-code” is installed on everyone’s smartphone. If you don’t have a green “health-code”, which means you don’t have the COVID19 virus, you cannot even go to school, go to work, travel, or even just to go out to do your grocery shopping.

This kind of strict policy has forced many old people and even children to buy a smartphone so that they can have a “health-code” to move around.

So, considering this nationwide “Health-Code”  surveillance and control system imposed on people during the pandemic, and the fact that people’s behavior patterns have been changed as a result, the demand for cell phones should greatly increase,  not decrease in 2020.

So, the point is, if the Chinese economy has already recovered from the pandemic, if the demand for cell phones has increased, we cannot explain the decrease of the users with economic factors.

3. The Population

So the only other factor to check is: the population.

According to data from the CCP’s National Bureau of Statistics, (insert picture 8), at the end of 2019, the total population of mainland China was 1.4 billion, with a natural population growth rate of 3.34 per 1,000. The number of people aged 14 years or older was 1.165 billion, an increase of 4.98 million year-on-year. At the end of 2018, the country’s population aged 14 years or older was 1.160 billion, an increase of 3.55 million year-on-year.

We talk about the population of people aged 14 years or older here, because, in China, this is the main group of people who use smartphones.

CCP’s data show that China’s natural population growth rate has been decreasing year by year in recent years, since 2016, which means that China as a whole is becoming older. The ratio of people over 14 vs the entire population is higher than before.

The CCP is now conducting the seventh national census starting in November last year, so as of now, there is no official population data for 2020.

However, it is possible for us to estimate the number of people over 14 years old at the end of last year based on the proportion of children aged 0-14 in the population.

According to the CCP, only 4632 people died of COVID19 last year. Such a small number wouldn’t have any impact in terms of population in China. So, if we assume that the natural population growth rate of last year is 3 per 1,000, China’s population should be about 1.40425 billion at the end of 2020, an increase of about 4.2 million from the end of 2019.

If we then consider the decrease of the proportion of children under 14 years old, which is on a downward trend, at the end of 2020, there should be about 1.16863 billion people in China who are over 14 years old. This is an increase of 3.5 million more than at the end of 2019.

So, based on the population data, there should be about 3.5 million more people in China who are 14 years or older in 2020.

The Relationship between Population and Cell Phone Users

The next question is, would this increase the number of cell phone users?

According to the trend of past years, the answer is yes.

For example, at the end of 2019 and 2018, the population growth of people who are 14 years older are 4.98 million and 3.55 million year-on-year, respectively. In the meantime, the total increase of cell phone users is 61.127 million and 121.782 million in 2019 and 2018, respectively.

Therefore, if we estimate with the same ratio, the increase of 3.5 million people over 14 years old last year should have resulted in an increase of 43 million phone users if we use the data from 2019 to compare.  If we use the data from 2018 to compare, the increase should be 120 million.

But the reality is, instead of an increase of tens of millions of cell phone users, we have seen a drop of over 5 million.

Therefore, we can reasonably say that the only reason for the decrease of the cell phone users is the deaths caused by the pandemic.

How Many People Have Died?

So, exactly how many people have died?

If we use the data from 2019 to calculate, an increase of 3.5 million people over 14 years old should bring an increase of 43 million phone users. But the reality is, we have lost 5.57 million. So the total difference is 43 million plus 5.57 million, which is 48.57 million.

If we use another way to do the estimation, and again use the data from 2019 to compare, which is, in 2019, one person on average owns 1.37 cell phones.

In this sense, 5.57 million mobile phone users correspond to 4.06 million people.

If we add the number of natural growth, which should be 4.2 million, the total difference is 8.26 million.

Which number is closer to the real death toll? Here I don’t want to draw any conclusion. But I have laid out the official population data and the cell phone user data, and how I made the calculations and estimations. I encourage everyone to check the original numbers and do your own calculation and estimations.

I am not sure whether we will have any chance in the future to find out the true numbers. If we do, I’m guessing they must be very, very shocking.

OK, that’s all I will say today. I will put the transcription of this show on my website at jenniferzengblog.com, that is, jenniferzengblog.com (insert pic. 9), I will also put the links to the websites where you can find the original population and cell phone users figures, so that you can do your own research if you wish. I only hope that the CCP and the phone carriers won’t change their numbers. If they do, the numbers are in the pictures of the screenshots I captured, and you can use those.

In such a time when many media outlets are not doing real journalism, and when the CCP and some other regimes and organizations are covering up the truth, we have to dig things out ourselves. So please do subscribe to, share my channel, and check out my other videos.

Thank you. See you soon!

Xi Lectures Biden: “Both Time and Momentum Are On Our Side”

Hello, everyone, welcome to “Inconvenient Truths”. I am your host Jennifer Zeng.

Now that a new US administration is in office, how have the US-China relations changed? What lies ahead, and what kind of messages has Xi  given to Biden so far, and what does that mean? Today let’s talk about these issues.

Setting a New Tone for US-China Relations

On January 25, the Chinese Communist Party’s Xinhua News Agency published an article as the most important news. Its title is: “Xi Jinping Attends World Economic Forum’s Davos Agenda Dialogue and Delivers A Special Speech”. Xinhua also puts the following as the sub-title:

“Xi stresses that to solve the issues of our times,  the international community needs to uphold and practice multilateralism and to promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.”

Some China observers say that Xi Jinping was actually publicly delivering his messages to Biden in a very high-profile manner, using the Davos forum as a channel, to set a new tone for U.S.-China relations.

Why do they say so?

Only several months ago, in last Sep.,  at the United Nations General Assembly, faced with President Trump’s direct demand for accountability, Xi Jinping’s speech was very much low-key, saying that he only “suggested” multilateralism. He even tried to voice his “grievance” to other world leaders, saying that “whoever has a bigger fist can have a say” was not the right way to go to solve international issues.

In other words, he admitted that the US had a “bigger” fist than the CCP, that’s why he said that “whoever has a bigger fist can have a say in international affairs” was not the right way to go to solve international issues.

However, this time, Xi Jinping obviously didn’t think that the US had a “bigger fist” anymore, that’s why he didn’t sound like making a suggestion. Instead, he sounded like a world leader giving out a new order about “constructing a community with a shared future for mankind.”

CCP’s Changed Attitude

From what we could observe recently, it is not difficult at all to see how the CCP’s attitude towards the US quickly changed. For example, the CCP dared not sanction US officials while Trump was in office, but rushed to sanction 28 people including Mike Pompeo right on Jan 20, exactly at the same time when Biden was sworn in, which is, noontime of Jan 20. Isn’t it too obvious a sign that the CCP wanted to give Biden a “下馬威”, which means an instant show of strength?

Actually, Xi Jinping started to show his strength as early as this year.

For example, on Jan 4, he stressed that the CCP’s army must be ready for war.

On Jan 6 local time, the CCP arrested 53 pro-democracy activists and one US lawyer in Hong Kong.

On Jan 12, Xinhua and many other CCP websites published an article titled “On the Fall of the US ‘Beacon’: It Deserves It! ” The article says that “The US used to self-claim itself as a ‘beacon’, as an icon of Western democracy. Now it has become a failed nation, ” “the U.S. is failing”, “the U.S. is no longer able to lead the world”,  “the U.S. is no longer a leader”, “Serves you right!”, etc.

On Jan 14, the CCP’s mouthpiece People’s Daily cited Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as saying that he “expects the new U.S. administration to return to multilateralism” and that he “opposes closed-door politics under the guise of multilateralism.”

On Jan 21, at a press conference of the CCP’s Foreign Ministry, spokesperson Hua Chunying said, “President Biden repeatedly emphasized the word ‘unity’ in his inauguration speech, which is precisely what is needed in the current Sino-US relations”, “In the past few years, the Trump administration, especially Pompeo, has planted too many mines in Sino-US relations that need to be removed; burned too many bridges that need to be rebuilt; and destroyed too many roads that need to be repaired”, “I hope the new US administration …… upholds non-conflict and non-confrontation ……” principles, etc.

Then, on Jan 23 and 24, the CCP suddenly sent out a large number of bombers and fighter jets to harass Taiwan for two consecutive days. This scale of the harassment was very unusual.

On Jan 26, CCP’s spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that in the past few years, the US had made “a directional mistake in U.S.-China relations”. He then seriously warned Biden to learn the lessons from Trump’s “wrong China policy”, to adopt “positive and constructive China policy”, to cooperate with China, so that the US-China relations can go back to the correct road of healthy development.

In recent days, there were rumors that Xi Jinping was trying to push for a summit with Biden, followed by rumors that Yang Jiechi, the Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission Office,  was going to visit the US.

Although the CCP has denied this, I am afraid that there is some sort of truth in it. It is very likely that the CCP has sought a visit, but hasn’t received a response from the new U.S. administration. Biden has not yet filled his cabinet and is busy with domestic issues, so he is not ready to systematically discuss his China policy with the CCP yet.

But apparently, Xi Jinping cannot wait, that’s why he used the Davos Forum platform to deliver his messages to Biden publicly and aggressively.

Xi Jinping’s Three Demands to Biden

Then, what are the main demands Xi Jinping has laid out for Biden? There are at least 3 of them.

  1. Re-entering the global supply chain.

Xi Jinping said that he “always supports economic globalization” and opposes “using the pandemic to engage in “de-globalization, closed door economy, and decoupling”, and he hopes to “maintain the smooth and stable supply chain of the global industrial chain”, and once again proposed “promoting the high-quality construction of the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’”.

It is very obvious that Xi Jinping is eager to have China become the “world factory” again, and the market he wants most is of course the US market, followed by Europe. The so-called Asian Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership free trade agreement is just something hyped up to delude people. There is not much essence in it.

As to the so-called “Internal Circulation” of China’s economy is sheer nonsense. The “positive” GDP growth of China’s economy in 2020 is also fabricated. To be able to return and rejoin the global economy is the only way for the Chinese economy to grow.

The high tariffs imposed by Trump on Chinese goods are still in place, and Xi Jinping certainly wants Biden to cancel them as soon as possible. The CCP has not fulfilled its promise for phase one of the trade deal, and Xi Jinping probably wants to cancel that as well. When negotiating with Trump, Xi has repeatedly pretended to concede. But with Biden, Xi seems unwilling to even pretend anymore.

2. Lifting the sanctions, treating China as an “equal partner”.

According to Xi Jinping, “the essence of multilateralism is that international affairs are to be handled by everyone together, and the future and destiny of the world are to be jointly mastered by all countries,” “not to be dictated by one or a few countries,” and we should “reform and improve the global governance system,” etc.

Xi was actually delivering these messages to Biden. Xi does not recognize the U.S. as the world leader. Despite the fact that the CCP is very isolated in the international community, Xi Jinping once again wants to compete with the US for hegemony.

Xi said he opposes other countries to “engage themselves within a ‘small circle’ and to start a ‘new cold war'”, and said that “we must overcome the development gaps between developed and developing countries …… The international community should implement its commitments and provide the necessary support for the development of developing countries …… so that people of all countries can share the opportunities and fruits of development”.

When talking in such a manner, Xi Jinping was actually behaving like he was the leader of all the developing countries. He thus openly called out to the US, asking the US and Western countries to give support and share the fruits.

Xi also said that “scientific and technological achievements should benefit all mankind, and should not be used as a means to restrict or curb the development of other countries.”

When listening to such arguments, you may want to say, “I’ve seen roguish people, but I’ve never seen anybody so roguish.”

Indeed, Xi Jinping made such a shameless statement, as if stealing technology from other countries is a great thing to do, and whichever country that doesn’t allow the CCP to steal is bad, is selfish, is hindering the development of developing countries, etc. We call it the logic of robbers.

These words of Xi Jinping are actually a direct denial of his own so-called “scientific and technological innovation”, which means, the CCP doesn’t have the ability to innovate. It just wants to continue to steal the intellectual property rights of the US and the West with a straight face.

The real purpose of this statement is to ask Biden to lift a series of sanctions imposed by the Trump administration. Xi made his points by saying that other countries cannot just wantonly decouple with others, cut off supplies, impose sanctions, start trade wars, science and technology wars, etc.

So, Xi Jinping is asking Biden to return to Obama-era policies and continue to allow the CCP to infiltrate, expand its power, dump other countries’ markets, and steal other people’s technology, etc.

3. Recognizing the legitimacy of the CCP regime

Xi Jinping said that the international world should abandon “ideological prejudice”, “arrogance” and “hatred”, and not to impose “social systems on others”,  “not to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries”, “not to engage in conflict and confrontation”, in “cold war or hot war”, etc.

The Trump administration’s decoupling from the CCP regime, which clearly distinguishes between the CCP and the Chinese people and basically stops diplomatic activities with the CCP regime, has directly exposed the legitimacy problem of the CCP and caused great panic for the top CCP leaders. Remember? Mike Pompeo once said that the biggest lie the CCP told was that it represents 1.4 billion Chinese people.

So now, obviously, Xi Jinping has asked Biden to recognize the CCP’s legitimacy again, and also to abandon any strategic confrontation with the CCP.

In the meantime, the CCP itself never stops treating the US and the West as its enemy, nor has it stopped its anti-American propaganda.  It has been addressing Pompeo as “the common enemy of mankind” for a long time.

Also, Xi Jinping twice commemorated the Korean War in October last year, and earlier this year, he mentioned war preparations again.

And as late as last weekend, the CCP’s fighter jets and bomber just intruded Taiwan.

And at the same time, Xi is openly asking the United States to back down and surrender.

Not much to Cooperate

While he tries to be tough towards Biden, Xi knows very well that there are very few areas where the U.S. and China can really work together at this point. He mentioned the Paris Climate Agreement, which Biden has already decided to return to, to try to commit to the goal of peaking emissions by 2030 and becoming carbon neutral by 2060. This could be one of the few items that the U.S. and China could discuss. But we must remember, that whenever the CCP makes any promises, it never intends to keep them.

Xi did not dare to mention the Iranian and North Korean nuclear issues, fearing that if he had done so, there would be some kind of criticism from the world. However, even though he didn’t talk about it, he obviously thought these were also areas where Biden would need the CCP.

Xi also talked about cooperation in fighting the pandemic, which was a major part of his previous speeches at international meetings. Seeing that Biden has decided to return to the WHO, Xi Jinping also said again that he thought the WHO “has played an important role in fighting the pandemic.  Obviously, he wanted to seek some kind of cooperation in this area, but I can’t see there is much that other countries can cooperate on with the CCP.

“Both Time and Momentum Are On Our Side”?

I am not sure how many people have noticed the stark difference. Only several months ago, last year, many countries in the world were talking about holding the CCP responsible for the spread of the COVID19 pandemic, and seeking compensation.

Now, nobody is talking about it anymore. On the contrary, some people started talking about what a wonderful job the CCP had done in controlling the pandemic. Some countries feel that they need the CCP’s help with some medical and vaccine supplies, so they dare not criticize the CCP anymore.

And the CCP also feels so confident with itself that Xi Jinping started to boast that “both time and momentum are on our side,”  which equals “History is on our side.” The CCP feels very happy to have survived the Trump Administration’s heavy below. Now it feels that the pandemic has given it a lot of strategic advantages, and it has a very good opportunity to overtake the US and become the No.1 country in the world.

Anyway, it seems that is how the CCP feels and what its plans are for now. Will it work?

We will have to wait and see. There is an idiom in Chinese, “人算不如天算”, which means human’s plans or calculations will never beat heaven’s arrangements.

There are also two other Chinese idioms, one is “物極必反”, which means when things reach an extreme, they can only move in the opposite direction. Another one is “回光返照”,which means the final radiance of setting sun. After this final radiance, its lifespan is over.

I always think there is great wisdom in Chinese culture and language. Do you agree with me?

Well, that’s all I will say today. YouTube is obviously suppressing free speech very hard. So please do subscribe, and check whether you are still subscribed to my channel. Someone suggested I open a Bitcoin account so that people can make donations to me with Bitcoin. I did open one yesterday, and the address is in the description window below this video. Please consider supporting me if you have the ability. I do rely on everyone’s support to survive in such a difficult time.

Thank you. See you soon!

Things Trump Could Have Done Better & How Should We the People Move Forward?

Hello, everyone, welcome to “Inconvenient Truths”. I am your host Jennifer Zeng.

In our last episode, we talked about  President Trump’s possible future plan, and his legacy. Today let’s talk about what he could have done better, and what “we the people” should do moving forward.

Three Things Trump Could Have Done Better

As far as I can see, there are 3 things that Trump could have done better.

  1. How to fight the CCP?

In my last show, I talked about how Trump was the one who changed the China narrative in the US by demanding a fair and reciprocal trade relationship with China. So he started his fight against the CCP with a trade war.

I am not sure how President Trump looked at the CCP and China, whether he had a very clear and overall strategy or plan to fight the CCP, whether he only wanted to contain the CCP, or actually planned to destroy it gradually and completely.

In Nov. 2019, I was interviewed by America’s think tank “Center of Security Policy”. And they published my interview in their newsletter as a “featured” item.

I said this in that interview:

“Maybe President Trump’s initial purpose for beginning the trade war with China was not to dismantle the CCP. However, if he can continue with his initial motivation, which was to rectify the unfair trade relations between the two countries, and insist on demanding the CCP to make structural changes, the final result could be the end the CCP regime, as its economic development is based on unsustainable models such as stealing, currency manipulating, forceful technology transfer, subsidy, etc. This kind of development cannot last forever once the West stops allowing it to take control.

“If the U. S. government can actively adopt more financial and economic measures, such as financial sanctions, excluding CCP companies from the U.S. stock market or even banking and US-dollar clearing system, an oil embargo, etc, the CCP could collapse much sooner.

“Again, the questions remain: Do we have enough political will? How do we define the CCP?”

I still believe that if Trump is given enough time to continue to do what he had been doing, there is a great chance that the CCP can be dismantled.

However, if Trump could have seen the CCP for what it is, which is, the greatest threat to humankind and the US, and actively sought ways to completely dismantle it, things would be very different for what we are seeing now.

The most important point is, dismantling the CCP is not meddling with Chinese affairs. It is liberating the Chinese people from the CCP’s big prison, and at the same time, ensuring the safety of the US and the world.

Because we didn’t do it, the CCP was able to meddle with the affairs of many other countries in the world, including the US. Now it is officially recognized by  the Director of US National Intelligence that the CCP has interfered with the US election. So we can reasonably say that because we didn’t do more to dismantle the CCP,  we are suffering the consequences. And Donald Trump is suffering too.

I also said this in the interview I mentioned before:

“Please don’t be alarmed by the word ‘dismantle’. We have once actively sought to dismantle the Soviet Union, the Saddam Hussein regime, ISIS, and Osama bin Laden’s al-Qaeda; why shouldn’t we do the same to the CCP, which has done no less evil in systematically murdering countless numbers of its own innocent citizens?

“One thing that is unique to the CCP, though, is that it has successfully dragged down the rest of the world to a certain degree. It has corrupted so many Western politicians, Multi-National corporations and Wall Street, having them bow to the power of wealth. Those politicians and big corporations then begin to work for the corrupt interests of the CCP, instead of the welfare of the people of their own countries.

“This makes the CCP even more dangerous and harmful than other regimes the U.S. once set out to dismantle.

“And the dismantling of the CCP could be much easier and much less expensive than we have imagined.

“I personally believe that the most efficient and least expensive way is to help the Chinese people to gain free and uncensored information inside and outside of China; and to empower the Chinese people themselves to overthrow the CCP.

“If we could make an investment in technology and equipment that can break down the CCP’s Great Firewall, and enable all the Chinese people to have free access to the internet, it would be very difficult for the CCP to continue to deceive and fool the Chinese people. They could then rise up themselves and dismantle the CCP. “

Well, I said all of this more than one year ago. If only President Trump and others had listened!

Well, that’s the first thing I think President Trump could have done better.

2. Distrust and Verify

The second one is, “distrust and verify”. This is actually what Secretary of State, or former Secterary of State Mike Pompeo said in his famous speech on China policy in July 2020. This is indeed how you should treat everything the CCP says and does.

However, it seems that President Trump and his team only realized this after the US and the world suffered very, very badly from the CCP virus pandemic.

Here let me share a secret that I have never shared before.

On March 11 last year, I received a surprising letter via the contact page of my website. It was sent from Seattle, the city where the first COVID19 case in the US was found.

It was actually a thank you letter to me , saying that I have “probably saved an astronomical number of lives.”

Screen Shot 2021-01-24 at 5.49.53 PM.png

Why did he say so?

He said that because he had been following me on Twitter and knew how serious the pandemic situation in China was, he had written an email to “the number two person in King County Government who reports to the number one person of King County and the state of Washington.”

And then, about 36 hours later King County completely changed its approach with the pandemic situation.

This person said that he believed that  his email to the No. 2 person in King County was passed on to Vice President Pence, “because tonight Donald Trump has completely changed his mind on the severity of the coronavirus and its impact”, and just had a press conference.

Then he said that “This was all made possible by the brave work you and the others have been doing as you can see in my email most of my evidence that I gave to these political leaders (is) from your Twitter and blog. I wanted to reach out and let you know that you probably saved an astronomical number of lives.”

He did list all the evidence he sent to the Number two person of King County (show P2 here), and I could see that almost all of them are from my Twitter account.

Screen Shot 2021-01-24 at 5.50.51 PM.png

So to sum it up, he believed that the tweets I sent about the COVID19 had changed the attitude of King County and President Trump, that’s why he reached out to thank me.

I share this secret here, not to say how wonderful I was, but to lay out my point. Although President Trump was very quick to ban non US citizens,  lawful permanent residents, and their families who had been to China in the past 14 days from entering the US at the end of January last year, and got a lot of criticism for that, he virtually did nothing, or very little in entire February. He indeed only started to act very aggressively after his press conference on March 11, after a lot of my tweets were presented to him as evidence to show the real situation in China.

I guessed before that, he had too much trust in the WHO, and what the CCP said about the virus. He didn’t know how serious the situation really was.

As a result, the best window to stop and contain the virus was lost.

Why did Taiwan do much better? Because officials in Taiwan didn’t trust the CCP, and they did their own research, and they understood the Chinese language, so they could get some non-CCP information, just like me.

At that stage, virtually no lame stream media was covering this issue, either. So it was very difficult to know the true situation unless you actively gathered your own information, like what I had been doing. I did so because I knew very well that the CCP was not to be trusted, and the CCP would cover up the truth.

I think the losses that the pandemic brought to the US and the world was too huge to estimate here.

Apart from those losses, the pandemic also changed the past US election, and perhaps the results of the election too. It also became a main stick, with which Trump’s political enemies could use to attack him all the time.

Well, maybe I’ve set too high a standard for President Trump. Not only he, I think almost all the world leaders, except the ones in Taiwan, were deceived by the CCP. If another person were the president of the US, he or she wouldn’t have done any better, or could have done much worse than President Trump.

The main point of me talking about this, is to ask everyone never, ever trust the CCP again on any issues.

“Distrust, and verify”, that’s the only way to deal with any information coming from the CCP.

3. Taiwan

The third thing President Trump could have done better is Taiwan. Many people, especially overseas Chinese people were speculating whether President Trump would resume formal, official diplomatic relations with Taiwan, or rather, the Republic of China, several months before the Election. At that time several high-level US officials were visiting Taiwan. People felt that the time to resume diplomatic relations with Taiwan was ripe, and hoped that Trump would push it forward.

However, he didn’t. If he had done so, Taiwan’s safety would be much better ensured.

Now, only several days after he had gone, the CCP’s  fighter jets and bomber planes  have aggressively intruded Taiwan multiple times. People say this is CCP leader Xi Jinping testing Biden to see how Biden would react.

In the meantimes, Biden’s administration started to address Taiwan officials as  “Taiwan’s democratically elected representatives”.  This term is also used by the CCP when they address the President of Taiwan. They call her “representative of Taiwan area” to indicate that Taiwan is part of China.

People have already noticed the difference: President Trump and Mike Pompeo used to say “President of Taiwan”, instead of “representative of Taiwan.”

So, if Trump had resumed formal relations with Taiwan, it wouldn’t be that easy for Biden to cancel that immediately, although Biden has been reversing all sorts of Trump policies in the first fews since he took office.

 The Great Awakening

In my last show, I said that because Trump didn’t give in or give up after Election Day, people got a chance to see how everyone, every sector in the society behaved themselves, and what they chose to defend.

As a result, many people were awakened.

Let’s watch a short video first. The person who recorded this video is Ricky Schroder. He is a Hollywood actor, director, producer and writer.

Richy Schroder, “Friends, while today may seem like all hope is lost, it’s not. While today may appear like a sure victory for those people who thirst for power knows no limits, and blinds them to their responsibilities to We the People, it is not.

“Today, January 20, 2021, is the world’s great awakening.  Hundreds of millions of freedom loving people around the globe now see and understand who our oppressors are. There’s nothing they’re not capable of.

“My opinion, the Biden and Harris administration is corrupt. It is enabled by Communist Party sympathizers within the political establishment of both major US political parties, federal agencies and corporate America. They employ their agents and big tech, entertainment, and media to confuse the American voter, hiding information necessary to make informed election decisions.

“Hunter Biden’s laptop and revealed Chinese Ukrainian, Russian business dealings are relevant to the American voter. The vast alliance of powers that were united to hiding that story a week before the election is election interference and voter suppression, period.

“What in the hell is going on, folks, why is the first amendment being destroyed on social media? Why is relevant news being hidden? These are Nazi tactics employed to silence dissent.

“This is not the new normal I’m willing to accept and I’m certain my oppressors won’t return America to the America that I know and love willingly.

“We the people have lost trust in our elections, our leadership, and the so called “Mainstream Media”. Or as they revealed themselves to be the Marxist Streaming media.

“I believe if elections aren’t secured to the satisfaction to all Americans quickly we won’t have a functioning country in a short time.

“I encourage all parties that want this country to succeed to work together, to make sure that election security is part of Biden’s 100 day agenda. We can’t survive another election like this,  and we may not survive this one.

“I now dedicate my efforts to defend the country I love and the entertainment industry I’ve devoted my life. I will fight to liberate our nation. I will fight to liberate our nation from democratic, socialists, CCP agendas, one family, one county, one state, one network, one social media platform at a time.

“Until America is once again led by we the people. And the Democrats won’t participate in the election security reforms and protecting our first amendment rights, then We the People will defend them. We will defend Lady liberty for who she is,  the world’s best hope after God.”

OK, I think everyone can feel his passion and emotion. I believe there are many people like him in the US.

This morning I saw an article in Chinese, which is being widely circulated among overseas Chinese.

This article’s title is “The Election has opened my eyes”.

It says, “Four years ago, I never doubted the news of the mainstream media; this time, I followed the Democratic primary and the presidential election and learned how most of the mainstream media took the quotes out of context, lied, and degenerated from journalism to stump propaganda.

“Four years ago, I thought most politicians in Washington were in politics because they had political aspirations and were bent on serving their country and their people; four years later, I see that most of them are fighting and pulling each other’s strings for partisan interests, personal interest and their own future.

“Four years ago I thought everyone was equal before the law; now I know that evidence of crime can be hidden, and it doesn’t matter if you commit a crime, it only matters if it is pursued.

“Four years ago I was proud of the freedom of speech in the United States, Americans can actually scold the president; four years later, the political arena and big technology companies make me scared.  I could only oppose the president, not be in favor of him. Or else my accounts would be deleted.

“Four years ago, I thought the beacon of freedom would never go out and I could just take it for granted; four years later, I was amazed by President Reagan’s words: ‘Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. ’

“It is painful to wake up from a deep illusion, but I do not regret it, and I still choose to live awake. Now I began to think: if I had not worked hard for the freedom of this country, so who am I to enjoy it with peace of mind? The time has come for me to do something about it, for myself and for my children to still be free people.”

This article was also written on Jan. 20.

How Should We the People Move Forward?

So what can we the people do from now on? Like I said in my last show, “where there is a will, there is a way.”

I think that we are already in a war. But in such a war, and such a time, information is more important than guns. So I think at least we the people should try our best to speak and spread the truth. Those who have the abilities and resources should work on ways to break the monopoly of information and control of social media platforms of large companies.

We should also work on taking back all the sectors that have been taken. This needs much longer and more concerted efforts.

Most importantly, we should hold tight on our faith in believing that good will overcome evil. Fight hard, and truth and justice will prevail in the end.

Well, that’s all I will say today. I just received an email from a viewer in the Philippines, saying that not only was he unsubscribed from my channel, but also couldn’t find me even when he searched for me! So I have suggested that he save the link to my channel somewhere, and check it whenever he feels like it.

Thank you very much for your support. Please help me to spread the messages.

Thank you, See you next time!

Trump’s Legacy & How Should We the People Move Forward?

Hello, everyone, welcome to “Inconvenient Truths”. I am your host Jennifer Zeng.

Jan. 20 was described by some media as “a day of history, a day of hope”.  It is, indeed “a day of history”, but is it a day of hope? Maybe different people will have different answers.

On this day Joe Biden was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States under unprecedented tight security control; while the 45th President Donald Trump left the White House with a departing message: “We will be back in some form”, giving people a lot of room for imagination. What did he mean by that? What kind of legacy has Trump left behind, what will America face in the post Trump era, and what should “we the people” do? Today I’d like to discuss these issues.

“We Will Be Back in Some Form”

First of all, what did Trump mean by “we will be back in some form”? Let’s watch what he said before this sentence.

Trump: “I will always fight for you. I will be watching. I will be listening. And I will tell you that the future of this country has never been better. ”

Then he said that he wished the new administration good luck and great success. He said the new administration should be doing great because he had laid a very good foundation. Then he said this.

Trump, “So, just a good-bye. We love you. We will be back in some form.”

So, my understanding is, he was saying that he wouldn’t stop fighting for America and its people, he would be watching closely what is happening in this country.

When in what form will he be back?

Wall Street Journal reports that “Trump has discussed starting a new political party” called “Patriot Party”.

The report says that “Mr. Trump discussed the matter with several aides and other people close to him”, and that “It’s unclear how serious Mr. Trump is about starting a new party, which would require a significant investment of time and resources. The president has a large base of supporters, some of whom were not deeply involved in Republican politics prior to Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign.”

So, starting a new political party is one of the possibilities. My own guess is that if he does go ahead with this, he should be able to attract a lot of supporters into joining his new party, including many current GOP members. Some even say that half of the GOP members can switch to this new party; and the impact on both GOP and the Democratic Party will be huge.

The negative side of this is, if Trump does set up a new party, this new party and the current GOP could be both weaker and smaller than the Democratic Party, and this will give the Democratic Party a lot of advantages. So from this point, we know that starting a new party will not be an easy choice.

Apart from this, Trump also talked about starting his own media and social media platform on Jan 8.

Let’s show the image of the Tweet he sent with his official Presidential account after his personal account was permanently suspended by Twitter. This tweet was soon deleted too.

Also, because Trump said “We will be back”, it is also possible that his family members and previous team members will be running for some kind of positions with his endorsement and full support; or he could also consider running again in 2024.

Apart from these, I believe there is a lot that Trump can do, as he had a lot of past experiences and connections in many different areas. It all depends on which direction he wants to go.

Trump’s Legacy

Next, let’s talk about Trump’s legacy.

Many people have already summarized his achievements in many areas such as economy, military, foreign policies, national safety, etc. So I won’t repeat those. I just want to talk about some of my own observations.

I think Trump’s most important legacy is to have applied the brake on a trend that had been going on for decades without many people realizing it.

What trend?

It is the decades of silent invasion and infiltration of Communism and Globalism into the free world. The “long march through the institutions” was so successful that almost all the sectors of the societies were either totally controlled or heavily influenced by that force, or people who identify with those ideologies. These sectors include politics, economy, arts and culture, education, ideology, media, social media, science and technology, NGO, global organizations and movements, churches and religions, legal systems, families, etc.

I do recommend that everyone take a read of the book “How the Specter of Communism Is Ruling Our World” . It is available on the Epoch Times website. You can also download the audio book and listen to it. This book discusses in a systematic way about the how the specter of Communism has gained control in all sectors of our society little by little in the past several decades.

I think many people had already felt things were terribly wrong with our society. Our jobs were lost, factories were closed. Everything we could buy here was “Made in China”. We couldn’t say “Merry Christmas”. While children are not allowed to vote until they are 18, they can choose to change their sex if they want and parents don’t have a say in this! Hollywood movies and NBA stars can curse and attack the US as badly as they like, but are reluctant to criticize the CCP, or could be fired if they do. So far and so forth.

We knew something was wrong, but didn’t know what it was, or even if some people did know what was wrong, they either dared not say it, or couldn’t find a channel to express it.

But Donald Trump changed all this. He openly challenged the political correctness, loud and square. He put a brake on the trend by his “America First” and “Make America Great Again” agenda. He might not have some kind of complex theory, or philosophy, but his common sense and instinct led him to say and to do what he did.

Because he said it, more and more people started to see it , think and talk about it.  So this has put a sudden brake on the trend that’s been going on for decades. And because of many of his policies, he successfully stopped and reversed some of the tides.

Another important legacy of Trump is that he has exposed the CCP, and totally changed America’s narrative of the CCP.

Before he came into office, the mainstream China narrative in Washington DC was that we should be nice to China, we should embrace China, we should help China to develop its economy first, then China’s middle class would “automatically” choose democracy and our way of living, etc.

Donald Trump was the first one who said, wait  a minute. We were not having a fair deal here. We had been taken too much advantage of, we should have a fair and  reciprocal relationship, etc.

Gradually, the narrative changed. China, or the CCP was no longer regarded as a “partner”, but a rival, or even an enemy.  With many of Trump Administration’s efforts in exposing CCP’s bad and immoral practices such as IP theft, espionage, forced technology transfer, etc, more and more people started to realize how badly the CCP’s damage was, how evil the CCP’s nature really is, especially after the global infection of the COVID19 pandemic. “CCPLiedPeopleDie” has become a popular hashtag on social media.

Furthermore, Trump’s trade war and other sanctions on the CCP, such as stop selling chips to Huawei and ZTE, let people realize that the CCP was the real paper tiger. Without the US technology or market, the CCP’s “China Dream” turned out to be only a dream. People say that the CCP was already half dead because of Trump’s trade war and other sanctions.

The CCP knows it very well too. That’s why the CCP was so happy that Trump was finally driven out of the White House.

I think the third legacy of Trump is that he really exposed the Washington swamp. That’s why people in the swamp hate him so much. He broke the statue quo, the established order and situation, in which the establishment of the two parties take turns to govern, to reap and divide the benefits; and that’s why he couldn’t be tolerated by those corrupt politicians.

Although it seems, at least for now, he failed to drain the swamp as he vowed he would, because the swamp seemed to be deeper and more powerful than him, he nevertheless exposed the swamp: something nobody had done like him before.

Even after he supposedly lost the election, because of his insistence, his not giving up, people got to see how the mainstream media, big tech, big companies, state governments, state legislators, judges, department of justice, and congress, etc,  behaved themselves. Everyone, every sector was offered an opportunity for the people, and also perhaps God, to see clearly how everyone thought and behaved, and what they chose to defend.

There is a Chinese saying that  “不以成敗論英雄”, which means you cannot judge whether somebody is a hero by whether he succeeds or not. I think this saying, or this philosophy also applies to Trump. Although he seemed to have lost this battle on the surface, for now, he will be remembered by history, and by many people, as a hero.

In this sense, maybe it is not that important to discuss whether his leaving the White House is the beginning or the end of his legacy. He has fought his good fight, and hard enough;  and that’s all that matters, in a sense.

Well, I am afraid that I’ve already talked for too long today. So I will talk about what Trump could have done better, and what “we the people” should do in the future in my next episode.

By the way, today I saw the shocking news that YouTube has demonetized the entire channel of several popular Chinese speaking YouTubers, who keep exposing the corruption and speaking the truth. They all happen to be my friends too.

I don’t know how far YouTube will go to suppress free speech. So please make sure you subscribe to my channel, check out my other videos, like them and leave your comments to give them a boost.

Also, I have put the information of my social media platforms in the description window under this video. Please check them out, and make sure you follow one of them to get more information and news updates I post almost everyday.

Thank you, see you next time!
