Mysterious Death of Chinese Coronavirus Researcher: Killer Has CCP Ties

Today I’ll talk about my own investigation about the death of the Chinese coronavirus researcher Bing Liu, and I’ll share some facts that nobody else has found regarding the background of the killer. So stick to the end.

When virtually everybody is closely watching how many more people have died of the CCP virus, and when a vaccine will be available, there suddenly appeared a somewhat shocking piece of news: Chinese coronavirus researcher was murdered right “on verge of ‘significant findings‘”!

The murder happened on May 2, in Pittsburgh in the US.

The researcher was 37-year-old Bing Liu. He was shot dead at his home. The killer was 46-year-old Hao Gu. Police say that Hao Gu shot himself to death after he killed Bing Liu.

Bing Liu’s employer, the University of Pittsburgh, said that Liu ‘was on the verge of making very significant findings’ in a COVID 19, or CCP Virus, research project. “We will make an effort to complete what he started in an effort to pay homage to his scientific excellence.”

Police later announced that there is ‘zero evidence’  that Bing Liu’s death was connected to his work on coronavirus, and that “the suspected murder-suicide was a result of a lengthy dispute regarding an intimate partner.”

Actually, before the police announced this, some Chinese netizens were already spreading some sort of chat records, claiming those records showing Bing Liu discussing his relationships with more than one woman.

Both Chinese and English media reported about Liu’s death, as “coronavirus” is a hot and sensitive issue now. Conspiracy theories were immediately sparked up. Interestingly, these theories are very different inside and outside of China.

Inside China, a user said on social media platform Weibo that both Liu and Gu were murdered by the CIA, another said “Oh my god, this seems like coming straight out of Mission Impossible. Perhaps he found out that the virus originated from an American lab.”

Chinese netizens said this because Chinese officials and state media had previously promoted a claim that the virus originated in the US and was brought to Wuhan by American soldiers.

However, outside of Chinese, some people say Liu was murdered by the Chinese Communist Party, the CCP. One Twitter user said, “Ever since the outbreak of the virus, many people died mysteriously. The plots are more exciting than in the movies. Whoever is close to the truth will die.”

Some scholars also echoed netizen’s claims.

The suspicious deaths listed by netizens include:

  1. Frank Plummer

Frank Plummer was a Canadian scientist key to the coronavirus investigation. It was reported that he died “ in mysterious conditions” in Feburay in Kenya, where he was a keynote speaker at the annual meeting of a university. People were speculating whether he was assassinated. His wife said he died of a heart attack.

People also noted that he had been the chief scientist at the National Microbiology Laboratory of Canada for 14 years. In July last year, officials at the National Microbiology Laboratory  escorted  Chinese scientist Xiangguo Qiu and her biologist husband  Keding Cheng, and an unknown number of her students from the lab and revoked their access rights. It was reported that “a number of observers have speculated that case involves concerns about the improper transfer of intellectual property to China.”

The latest news is, Qiu has helped train staff at the lab of Wuhan Institute of Virology, and she had made 8 trips to China, including 2 to Wuhan in the three years before she was removed from the National Microbiology Laboratory of Canada.

The spokesperson of The Public Health Agency of Canada also revealed that the Wuhan Institute of Virology had requested a shipment of Ebola and henipavirus samples in March last year. Henipavirus is another highly virulent family of pathogens.

2. Zhang Lan.

Another suspicious death happened to Zhang Lan. She lived in New York and maintained a blog at the Chinese media platform Caixin. She started to write a series of posts entitled “New Yorkers During the Pandemic” on Mar. 6.

She said in her first post, “As many Chinese media outlets’ coverage of the epidemic in the United States is distorted and exaggerated, I decided to write about what I see and hear about the epidemic in New York starting today. I do not seek to be exactly correct, but I will write about what I see. I do not seek a magnitude perspective but will write about the small things around me that I know. ”

She kept updating her posts every day, until Mar 27. Then, on Mar. 28, the editor of Caixin suddenly announced that she had died in the morning on Mar 27 local time.

It was said that she was knocked down by a truck while walking on the sidewalks. But some netizens were not conviced, as they said that during the lockdown, there was little or no traffic at all in the city, how could that happen?

I remember once a friend said, if you see one dead fly in your room, it could be just accidental. If you see two dead flies, it could still be OK. However, if you see three dead flies in your room, you need to check what’s wrong in your house.

So, as we’ve already seen at least three suspicious death, I tried to make some investigations regarding the latest one, and here is what I found:

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette, the largest newspaper in the city, reported on May 4 that Bing Liu’s neighbors did not hear any sounds of gunshots on the day of his death and that a formal ruling by the county medical examiner on the cause of Liu’s death is still pending.

So a Wionews article asks, “Was it really a murder over a love triangle? Or the outcome of some conspiracy? Are there more secrets hidden in the dark?

Another thing I found is, it seems that in this “murder-suicide” case, both the killer and the victim had some sort of ties to China, or to the CCP.

On the victim’s side. Liu was born in China and his parents still live there. He gave talks in China as recently as 2018, according to his bio page at the University of Pittsburgh’s website. But little was known about his history before he went to Singapore to study in 2002.

Bing Liu’s employer, University of Pittsburgh, seems to have a very strong position in virology. On Apr. 3 this year, researchers from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine said they believe they have found a vaccine for the coronavirus after studying a similar virus.

Some other fact is, Pittsburgh is a sister city of Wuhan. Pittsburgh Today’s senior editor Jeffery Fraser wrote an article on March 11, with this title: “Coronavirus May Strengthen Pittsburgh’s Ties to Wuhan”.

Another fact is, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, UPMC, is building 5 private hospitals in China with Beijing-based conglomerate [kənˈɡlɒmərət ] Wanda Group as part of a $2 billion investment over the next two decades. UPMC’s CEO Jeffrey Romoff said that with the 20-year deal, UPMC  will soon be able to boast “the largest presence of American-style medicine outside the United States.”

On the killer’s side.  Hao Gu’s Linkedin account information shows that he was a chief software architect at Eaton Corp., a power management company based in Ireland.

After his case was reported, netizens soon discovered that Gu once worked as the registrar for Pittsburgh Chinese School, and once won a “School Work Reward” for 2013-2014.

Hao Gu was the registrar at Pittsburgh Chinese School

Hao Gu was the registrar at Pittsburgh Chinese School

Hao Gu once won a “School Work Reward” for 2013-2014.

Hao Gu once won a “School Work Reward” for 2013-2014.

I did some further investigation, and found the following:

Hao Gu’s name was listed under “School Management Team” as the registrar on a 15-page long publication of Pittsburgh Chinese School in 2009.

Pittsburgh Chinese School is a very active member of The Chinese School Association in the United States, and The Chinese School Association in the United States maintains a very close relationship with the Chinese Communist Party, or probably directly listens to the CCP.

A random search led to the following results:

  • As recently as Apr 3 this year, a pro-CCP Chinese paper “The China Press” published a report about “offering multi-dimensional assistance” to the Chinese students in Philadelphia who were affected by the CCP virus pandemic. The initiative was started by the CCP’s Consulate General in New York to provide assistance to Chinese students who couldn’t go back to China because China had closed its borders. The report says the  Chinese Consulate will release relevant information and lists Chen Hong, the principal of Pittsburgh Chinese School as one of the contact persons for the initiative.

* In the 66 page QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER of  The Chinese School Association in 2017, the following items were listed as important news on the first page:

“The Chinese Consulate General in Houston Actively Promotes Chinese Language Education in Overseas Countries”.

“President Liu Shen Visits Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York”

“President Liu Shen Attends the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Pittsburgh Chinese School “

“Report on the 40th Anniversary Celebration of Pittsburgh Chinese School “

  • The 55 page QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER in 2015 reported in detail the trip of 18 leaders of the Chinese School Association to China, mentioning how CCP officials in Beijing and Jiangxi province showed hospitality to the group.

It was especially mentioned that the group attended a series of activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the CCP’s regime.

  • In this post on Pittsburgh Chinese School’s website, it was reported that the Vice-Consul General Zhong Ruiming from the CCP’s Consulate General in New York especially flew to Pittsburgh on Oct 23, 2014, to meet representatives of local Chinese organizations.  The Principal and Vice-Chairperson of Pittsburgh Chinese School attended the meeting.

The Vice-Consul General promised at the meeting that China would send professionals to the Chinese school to do different training, seminars, and summer camps, etc, to provide a better learning environment for overseas people who are interested in learning Chinese culture.

Please note here, why would the CCP send teachers to overseas Chinese schools to be trained? Sounds strange, right? Shouldn’t overseas Chinese language teachers go to China to be trained instead? For me, this is actually a channel for the CCP to fund, or support the Chinese schools in the United States, as part of their “United Front Work” operation.

Former Chinese diplomat Chen Yonglin, who defected to Australia in 2005, once told me that the Chinese Consulate in Sydney would transfer money directly to the president of the Chinese Student Union. The president would use that money to organize activities, to hold the students together. And once the CCP needed them to do something, as such to welcome some visiting CCP leaders, to protest against some “anti-China” forces, these students could be organized very easily, as the ties had already been established.

There are many other reports or photos showing CCP’s consul general meeting leaders of  The Chinese School Association , or attending their activities, such as this one on the website of CCP’s Consulate General in Los Angeles, this one on the webiste of the CCP’s Embassy in the US, this one on the website of CCP’ s Consulate General in Chicago.

CCP’s most important mouthpiece Xinhua also reported about the Chinese School Association’s activity in 2018.

A post at the Chinese School Association’s Facebook page says that they have received notices from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China regarding the summer camp activities in Beijing. Overseas Chinese Affairs Office is directly in charge of CCP’s “United Front Work ”, which is CCP’s overseas infiltration and influence operation.

So from the above, we can clearly establish that Hao Gu was once a senior management member of Pittsburgh Chinese School.  And Pittsburgh Chinese School, as well as the Chinese School Association, have strong ties with the CCP. They even directly or indirectly receive financial support from the CCP.

Of course, these are NOT evidence to say that CCP has played any kind of role in Hao Gu’s murder of Bing Liu. We can only say that Hao Gu once had ties with the CCP.

However, if the police are really still investigating Liu’s death, I think it doesn’t hurt for them to know more facts and background surrounding the murderer.

OK, that’s all for today. Thank you for watching. YouTube just demonetized my channel without any explanation. So I need your help and support to keep my channel running. Please at least subscribe to my channel to show your support.

Thank you again. See you soon!
